Hi all

My dd is currently at Ncs. She has anxiety issues and none of her friends went with her. I encouraged her to go to open up and overcome her fears of social anxiety.

I was so proud of her for going, just got a phone call from her that a particular popular boy made fun of her glasses and swore at her and called her a f.... ing d... k. I’m fuming at moment and dd doesn’t want to do phase 2 now. One boy has made this whole experience awful, reduced her self esteem even more and the aim of fighting her fears has back fired .

I feel like a bad parent and back tracking on everything we tried to achieve .

What shall I do?? Report the boy? Let her quit?

That's great to hear! This is fab because, rather than running away from a difficult situation, she's overcome it and learned that she can not just cope but enjoy it. Brilliant. Thanks for the update!

Onwards and upwards to 6th form now !

You both sound great OP and she sounds like she got a lot from it.
Particularly, she has learnt that she has great resilience and determination.

From times like this I think it's great to be able to use it as an example the next time she faces adversity.

As in, the next time she is very anxious about something you will be able to remind her of how stressed and nervous she was about this course. How she persevered, and succeeded and was well able to cope after all.

Sounds like a great win.👍

Thank you so much, yes I’m more proud of her completing Ncs than her GCSEs results as grades are gRades, perseverance will be more valuable in the work world!
