Daughter from South Africa

We are applying for our dd to join the 6th form as a boarder. We are looking at a wide set of schools. She is not highly academic but is sporty and musical. She is also quite introverted but very friendly.
So a very nurturing school would be very much what she needs.
We looked at St Teresa Effingham; Queenswood and Queen Anne's as they are more or less what her previous school" looks" like though I would put her present school as academic hot house which is what we are not looking for.
She was interviewed by Royal Masonic High as well as Royal Bath High. We loved both of these as they really appealed to the ethos we are looking for.
Would The top 3 differ much in terms of ethos and pastoral care?

i find your question unhelpful and potentially racist, longtimelurkerhere. The ethnicity of Bus1's daughter is completely irrelevant. Education in SA is excellent. I am afraid I don't know anything about the schools you mention, Bus1 but I had to comment on this response.

Really resent your last comment. Not in the least bit racist. Perhaps you should understand the term before using it.

Bus1 will understand we’re a continent of plain speakers. Lots of SA in Ghana and Nigeria and vice-versa.

Education in Ghana and Nigeria is far superior to SA in all OECD and similar tables, so unclear exactly where your assertion is coming from that SA is top notch for education..

SA education is much more well rounded than the British education system. How arrogant to assume superiority. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Queenswood trumps Royal Masonic for pastoral care. It is known for it.

RM, like every school, has bullying. The difference is it’s not dealt with at all well at RM and I know two girls who started in Y7 and have since left as a result.

Also Queenswood has a much stronger boarding ethos (girls finish at 6pm) whereas RM is most definitely more of a day school.

Longtimelurkerhere.. I have only asked for opinions regarding the 5 schools I referred to from people who would have the experience or knowledge of what I am asking for. I certainly did not ask for a country comparative analysis as there is fact - based and reliable data that resides in the right places not the one that is Ill informed and xenophobic.
You seem to have missed the fact that dd has been interviewed by the 2 schools and they want her on board. The schools referred to here are very knowledgeable about the world outside the UK as such they do know about the schools here and the type of girl that brings value to their schools. Contrary to your views, the fit I"m referring to , are the ethos and value she would bring to the school. My Dd1 is at a Russell Group Uni doing a Science degree and she is a Captain of a water sport 1st team . Therefore I do not think you should concern yourself about "baptismal by fire " for a dd whose parents are both MBA graduates from a Russell Group Uni. If you had stuck to the script and steered away from your rascist , xenophobic anf myopic view of the world, you would save yourself the embarrassment in future.
Yes dd's first language is English.
The school she goes to is no a 1 girl's school in SA and ranked ( by people who arr in the know) along the Uk s top 5 ( just for the record).

Bus1 I can't help with the schools sorry. I too am in SA and am just a bit taken aback by some comments here.

Wish you all the best with choosing a new school, but I am pretty confident that your daughter has had a very good academic start here, so i would not concern yourself with comments implying that she wont.

16.4% of adults in England alone can be described as having 'very poor literacy skills'. That's 7.1 million fully grown individuals. Appalling stats for a supposedly first world country.

Longtimelurker You’re not making any sense at all. Students have been coming from all over Africa to study or years without any problem. There are 5 national languages in SA andEnglish is one of them. How do you think OP’s DD did her interviews?

Why is OP’s DD’s ethnicity relevant here? There are tons of black and white international students in the U.K all doing very well academically, it is not a baptism by fire, why would it be?

If you want a thread debating which African country has the best education, (though I hasten to add the only African universities that managed to enter the top 200 worldwide are all in South Africa and Egypt. None in Ghana and certainly none in Nigeria!). Start a new thread.

She seems unaware that there are a large number of English speaking South Africans which is generally common knowledge in the U.K. Also while there is a huge variation in the quality of schools in SA, there are some excellent ones.(Same as here really).

Also please could we hear more about how Nigeria and Ghana have world beating Education systems. That was certainly the first time anyone has ever made this claim so I would be interested in some evidence please.

LongtimeLurker most South Africans are multilingual. There are 11 official languages. South Africa is also a G20 nation.

jeanne16 , i kind of agree. longtimelurker's entire dialogue was so offensive that it could almost be seen as a weird ploy to wind everybody up! Bonkers! I just hope Bus1 has taken it as the rantings of somebody crazy and not the views of the UK at large!

I definitely recommend queenswood! no personal experience sending there, but have visited and know people with children there who are very happy.
