Colfe's 11 + anyone heard? Or have previous info?

DS sat Colfe's on Saturday and has applied for a sports scholarship which is scheduled for tomorrow but only if you are notified. I just wondered if anyone had heard back from them yet? Seems like such a tight turnaround! Or info from previous years to save me chewing my fingers off?

think this is a new thing they are doing this year? have heard of other people in the same boat so am sure you will hear (one way or the other) today. best of luck

the Colfes sports scholarship day was DD's favourite part of the whole 11+ process - they made a real effort to make it fun and let the kids try lots of new things.

Thanks very much for replying TJ much appreciated!

I rang the office this morning and they said we will hear by the end of today.... Eek

Petran · 14/01/2019 14:24

Cripes - are they getting back to us today for the rest - interview or no interview - or just the sports scholarship?

mtyousaf · 14/01/2019 14:35

I think mainly sports scholarship applicants, because the assessment is tomorrow.

mtyousaf · 14/01/2019 14:36

Has anyone applied for St. Dunstans and heard anything yet?

Petran · 14/01/2019 14:40

We applied for St Dunstans too, not heard anything at all

mtyousaf · 14/01/2019 14:44

Ok..no news is good new I guess 😬

Petran · 14/01/2019 15:00

That’s my thinking too 😳
Good Luck with the sports scholarship 🤞

mtyousaf · 14/01/2019 15:08

Thanks!

Need to step away from my email now. Especially as we heard from Trinity at 8pm on Friday and Whitgift at 5pm on Saturday so who knows what time Colfe's will get in touch. Good luck all and thanks for the info!

DS sat on Saturday too, but is not remotely sporty, so not thinking about sports scholarships. I was wondering when we could expect to hear back in terms of interviews for a normal fee-paying place. Anyone have any idea please?

Re St Dunstan's - DS sat last Wednesday with everyone else, and we haven't heard back either. Hoping that if we haven't heard in the negative by, say, end of Wednesday, he will be called for an interview.

Crossing everything for everyone!

WellTidy · 14/01/2019 15:17

Mother I hope you don't mind me asking - did Trinity take a week (I am assuming that your son sat on Fri 4th Jan) to come back and say no thank you, or a week to come back and invite for interview?

Has anyone heard from Eltham, by any chance please (not meaning to derail your thread, OP)?

MotherofPirates · 14/01/2019 15:25

WellTidy DS sat Trinity on Wednesday as we did Eltham previous Friday. Have heard back positively from Eltham and Whitgift and negativity from Trinity. What a rollercoaster!

Thanks Mother. DS sat Bishop Challenor, Eltham, Colfe's and St Dunstan's (on the days that the majority sat, as we didn't have any clashes). I haven't heard from any.

I am not holding out much hope for Eltham as Ds found it difficult, and especially now that I know you have head back positively.

Good luck to your DS in the next stages.

MotherofPirates · 14/01/2019 15:57

Thanks WellTidy good luck to your DS too. We may have heard back more quickly from Eltham due to applying for the sports scholarship as I know boys who applied for the sports scholarship there who have heard back in the negative.

My son also said he found the Eltham exam very hard but he really enjoyed the interview so I get the feeling they take the whole boy into account a bit more.

I've just heard back from St Dunstan's and he's been invited to sports assessment on Friday. We had an email on Thursday from Eltham inviting to sports assessment this Weds.

Not sure if they email scholarship applicants first....

No news from Colfe's yet.

WellTidy · 14/01/2019 16:00

That's good to know Mother. Thank you. The Eltham sample paper was much harder than the others that DS tried, and he found the Maths especially hard (and Maths is his strongest subject). Fingers crossed. That said, it is all about finding a school that is a good fit for the child, and I absolutely wouldn't want him to be successful in getting a place, for him to then struggle.

WellTidy · 14/01/2019 16:01

Good luck to your son with those mtyousaf.

Petran · 14/01/2019 16:24

Oh that’s lovely news mtyousaf!

mtyousaf · 14/01/2019 16:34

Thanks everyone..... Ditto on Eltham exams being the hardest...my son really didn't think he passed so we were all really surprised he got invited to the sports assessment.

mtyousaf · 14/01/2019 17:28

Received email from Colfe's around 5:09 today so hopefully everyone should have heard now for sports assessment tomorrow. Good luck everyone!

MotherofPirates · 14/01/2019 17:29

mtyousaf might be worth checking your email - we just received confirmation of sports assessment tomorrow. Now I have to work out what to do with my other two kids tomorrow so I can get to Colfe's for 8.30am. Have to say it's put me off them a bit.

Lol...I'm shipping my DD to my mum's tonight so she can take her to school.... 3 sports assessments in 1 week... That's hardcore for all the kids... I wish they spaced it out a bit more so their little bodies can recover 😥
