I'm upset now as dgd knew how crucial English language is and refused to do much revision for it last week. I feel sick now but must get over it before I see her tonight. Might as well bite my tongue off now and my feet!Sad

puppywithattitude · 05/06/2018 11:51

Oh dear, dc just sent me a text.
English not gone well apparently.
Couldn't think of anything to write regarding the environment being ruined or if having hobbies was a good thing.Confused

Stickerrocks · 05/06/2018 11:53

My current decaf coffee of choice is "Grumpy Mule". Care to join me?

puppywithattitude · 05/06/2018 11:53

How could you not think of loads to say about those topics.Hmm

puppywithattitude · 05/06/2018 11:53

Is it too early for 🍷

Sostenueto · 05/06/2018 11:54

Hi puppy seems we both need a stiffGin or two! So bottoms up!Flowers

JufusMum · 05/06/2018 11:54

puppywithattitude what exam board was that?

BlueBelle123 · 05/06/2018 11:54

sostenueto I'm sure your DGD did her best sometimes knowing how important something is and putting a huge amount of pressure on yourself can have a paralyzing effect.......I'm sure she's done better than she thinks

Sostenueto · 05/06/2018 11:55

I do now feel physically sick oh dear!

Sostenueto · 05/06/2018 11:56

Thanks bluebelle for reassurance Flowers hope your DC does well.

Stickerrocks · 05/06/2018 12:03

It is all relative though. None of them know how well they did in comparison to the rest of the country and what they think was dire was probably more than competent. The people they know are just like them and they are forgetting that there is a whole host of DC who just didn't bother because they think the exams are pointless. If our DC compare ourselves to them, things suddenly start to look a lot better.

Remember, they are all having the adrenalin rush they get on coming out of the exam room at the same time as the panic hits for geography this afternoon. they are bound to be full of doom & gloom.

puppywithattitude · 05/06/2018 12:05

Edexcel igcsejufus

puppywithattitude · 05/06/2018 12:08

I'm not even asking about the comprehension piece.

Theimpossiblegirl · 05/06/2018 12:10

They will have been working on the skills for English language for years, I'm sure they've done fine.

puppywithattitude · 05/06/2018 12:11

sostenueto Flowers to you too.
Let's try and be positive, it's done now i suppose.

Sostenueto · 05/06/2018 12:14

Oh well no good crying over spilt milk. Must think positive, must think positive.......
On a lighter note project for dgd and myself to complete is garden furniture made out of wooden pallets (9 euro sized) marine plywood, old tiles smashed up to form mosaic. Tile adhesive, 2 second hand 2'6" mattresses covered with waterproof mattress covers and duvet covers. Plenty of scatter cushions, nails 12 caster wheels and hey presto a gaudi inspired sofa!

Oh and coffee table! All removable too!

puppywithattitude · 05/06/2018 12:16

sticker i do love your positivity, only trouble is my dc always thinks it's gone better than it has, so coming out and saying it didn't go well means it was a total disaster Hmm

Seeline · 05/06/2018 12:16

Puppy my Ds did that one. He said the unseen piece was about dead penguins Confused
Luckily had done an environmental piece for a past paper so was OK on that one. He said hobbies was just weird Grin

puppywithattitude · 05/06/2018 12:17

Ooh lovely

Sostenueto · 05/06/2018 12:20

There you go puppy! thanks stickerrocks for your positiveness!Flowers

Stickerrocks · 05/06/2018 12:21

Are you sure you're not my next door neighbour? She build a beach hut (not using a kit) in her back garden, furnished it with benches, cushions and bunting, then went even further and added a wood burner for the winter.

For those DC who thought it went badly, add 20% as they can't remember what they really did. For those DC who thought it went well, deduct 20% because they are equally clueless. None of them know how their answers will be interpreted, so their own assessments are a degree biased.

Sostenueto · 05/06/2018 12:22

Well I'm all for outdoor living Sticker!

Stickerrocks · 05/06/2018 12:26

I'm practising my speech for tomorrow. I have some students who are sitting the last ever sitting of an exam paper. They have already passed half, but if they fail the second half tomorrow they will need to sit an entirely new 10 day course at vast expense to themselves and potentially delay qualifying until next year. The typical pass rate is 30% for the exam. I'm paid to be perky!

EllenJanethickerknickers · 05/06/2018 12:34

DS3 said the extract for the AQA English exam was a short story about an English teacher marking exams! That'll be a treat for the examiners. Grin

As always, the exam 'went well!' Hmm He wrote a story about something unexpected happening. No more detail, this is by text.

I like the garden furniture plan, sost. Looks very relaxing.
