Good luck to those doing Spannish and Music today! Ds has a day off today then Maths tomorrow and English and History on Friday.

BlueBelle123 · 06/06/2018 07:39

I don't know what will happen personally I think nothing will, how would we ever know either way?

mmzz · 06/06/2018 07:40

Maybe the answer is to set another mini exam paper with just a war poem on it? The exams are still going, so it's not too late, and it would only take about 30 mins.

That would never happen.....last year DD did the maths paper that was leaked the night before the exam it still went ahead, now that was a disgrace and completely unfair, can you imagine how fast that would of spread with social media!!!!?

calzone · 06/06/2018 07:42

Mmzz......please don’t suggest that anywhere.

I think ds would melt......🤣🤣🤣

mmzz · 06/06/2018 07:48

I thought it was a good idea! It's the first solution I can think of. Anything else causes some group to get lower grades than they deserve

An extra exam on top of the 27 he is currently doing???? 🤣🤣🤣

mmzz · 06/06/2018 07:49

Best, not first.

calzone · 06/06/2018 07:50

I don’t think they will be marked down.

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 06/06/2018 07:53

mmzz please no!

She's already given away all her literature books! Shock

mmzz · 06/06/2018 07:54

Calzone is not ideal (and highly unlikely to happen), but is there a better solution? If you leave out the poem points for everyone, that disadvantages those who are stringer at poetry than the texts.
If you make it harder to get good marks if you did Ozy, then that disadvantages those who didn't get the teacher help with the answer in the first place.
If you leave things as they are then that disadvantages half the cohort.

mmzz · 06/06/2018 07:56

If they don't get marked down, calzone, then what about the Singh Song cohort who got arguably the worst poem and no teacher steer to go through a highly similar answer in great detail?

Bluebelle but there was social media last year???

Thank you looseattheseamsFlowers
mmzz great tips on furniture build thank you!Flowers
There had not better be marked down on English lit paper or made to sit it again! I had better get some placards ready to demonstrate outside Parliament if either of those scenarios happen!

Theimpossiblegirl · 06/06/2018 08:04

Dd2 said at least she can be pretty sure Ozy won't come up for her next year. Every cloud and all that.
I really don't know how they can work it out fairly, surely the kids who hadn't done the sample paper will get lower grades just based on needing more time to think of answers, let alone the quality of their answers.

mmzz · 06/06/2018 08:07

But I'll be there with my placards if they do nothing!

Anyway, we know they will do something because Ofqual has made it clear that they have to. I suspect that whatever they do, there will be large numbers who feel cheated.

Its a farce with these exam boards. Who on earth oversees their standards and the way they produce the exam papers? Whoever it is should be sacked!

LooseAtTheSeams · 06/06/2018 08:08

They won't make anyone do the poem again! AQA managed to please some Power and Conflict students but also really annoyed others who wrongly assumed the poem wouldn't be repeated! That makes me think nothing will happen.
Schools had to choose the anthology so the power and conflict students were stuck with Ozymandias and the Love and Relationships students were stuck with Singh Song. Students were expected to have learned everything in the anthology they were given.

JufusMum · 06/06/2018 08:09

DD is refusing to go into school this morning because it's Maths revision and she doesn't get on with the maths teacher. I don't have the time or energy to argue. But when the school phone me and ask where she is I will give them DD's number and ask them to ask her. Responsibility for your own actions and all that...

Sostenueto · 06/06/2018 08:09

Not good either way mmzz.

LooseAtTheSeams · 06/06/2018 08:13

mmzz most likely outcome is kinder marking on Singh Song.
Sostenueto it does show the real gcse reform that was needed was to the exam boards, and yet that was the one that didn't happen!

Sostenueto · 06/06/2018 08:16

Oh so true loose.

Sostenueto · 06/06/2018 08:20

jufus well done! Exactly what I would have done!. Directly after maths exam tomorrow dgd will go to English revision class then get ceremonially chucked off premises again like she did on Tuesday!

Cherryburn · 06/06/2018 08:26

Loose do you know if any adjustment is done as a matter of course between questions if one turns out to be much lower scoring than the other(s) e.g. one of the poems, one of the novels etc?

Sostenueto · 06/06/2018 08:37

Marking scheme completely beyond me cherrybun
