And any other schools you may wish to add... Have used threads from the previous few years as part of my research and ds sat Trinity today! I'm more of a lurker than a thread starter but decided to bite the bullet and offer a hand to hold. Good luck to all dc's sitting exams over the next few weeks! Grin

Thanks for letting us know FairnotFair.

AnotherNewt · 13/01/2018 10:48

That must mean that DC have abandoned ringing all interviewees then. My apologies for outdated information. It'll be a change this year (or else every single one I know there is an unsuccessful scholarship interviewee).

DC in the past only interviewed those to whom they intended making or placing right in the top places on the waiting list. Could anyone who is doing it this year keep an ear out to see if this has changed too?

orangina · 13/01/2018 10:54

Still waiting for this morning's post. Nail biting stuff!

spacecadet48 · 13/01/2018 11:18

Its a no from DC but that's what we were expecting. Still happy with Whitgift interview on Monday! Good Luck to everyone else waiting

orangina · 13/01/2018 11:43

Its a no for us as well spacecadet48.... disappointing, but there we go. His statement that it was 'easy' was a concern, as none of these papers are meant to be easy, and he is bright, but not a genius......

Tolacar · 13/01/2018 11:53

Sorry spacecadet and orangina....I'm still waiting for the post and feel sick!

spacecadet48 · 13/01/2018 12:01

Sorry to hear that Orangina. DC is so competitive as they only have 70 places as they other 70 are boys coming up from the prep. My son knew that when he left the exam so wasn't hopeful anyway.

orangina · 13/01/2018 12:06

My son will be v disappointed, but we are going to hold on to the information for a bit and hopefully let him know together with some better news (fingers crossed!). He is blissfully unaware of all of our nail biting and interview timetables etc.

spacecadet48 · 13/01/2018 12:14

Orangina I was in two minds about letting him know as he has his whitgift interview on Monday. But I had prepped him for bad news and in truth my 1st choice is Whitgift so delighted he has an interview my other half prefers St Dunstans but no news from them yet. Good Luck for your DS and hope he gets positive news from elsewhere

isa2 · 13/01/2018 12:16

And a no for us too - quite disappointing as my son is said to be at the top of his school class, has an interview at Trinity and passed for Wilson's, Sutton Grammar and Wallington in the Sutton 11+. Tough competition indeed!

isa2 · 13/01/2018 12:19

Incidentally, does anyone know what are the odds of getting a place following a Trinity interview?

spacecadet48 · 13/01/2018 12:19

isa2 sorry to hear that. Its great news however about the grammars and Trinity...

SoupDragon · 13/01/2018 12:43

I don’t think there’s any way of telling what the odds are following an interview, unfortunately. There have always been theories about length of interview, who the interviewer was and whether you speak to the headmaster but I think it’s all just theories.

Sometimes they let on (At W it was made clear that DS2 would be getting an offer and that it was just a case of how good an offer for example and I’m pretty sure they told me DS1 was being considered for a scholarship at T but both these were some time ago and I was given no hints for either of them when they had interviews at whichever school the other had a hint for! If that makes sense.)

It’s a stressful time for sure, right up to offers day I’m afraid.

orangina · 13/01/2018 12:48

Sorry to hear that isa2, but great that your sons (isa2 and spacecadet48) have other positive options at this stage.... definitely easier to break bad news with good news to go with it!

Tolacar · 13/01/2018 14:19

We have an interview for DC....fingers crossed for anyone still waiting.

spacecadet48 · 13/01/2018 14:27

Brilliant news Tolacar! Your DS must have done exceptionally well. none of my friends whose kids went to one of the preps got an interview!

LordWalterTheCourageous · 13/01/2018 14:29

Congrats Tolacar

spacecadet48 · 13/01/2018 14:30

Brilliant news Tolacar! Your DS must have done exceptionally well.

spacecadet48 · 13/01/2018 14:31

Sorry i seem to have posted twiceSmile

Tolacar · 13/01/2018 14:34

Thank you...in shock a bit! I know two other boys from my sons school that got interviews too.

orangina · 13/01/2018 14:51

Great news Tolacar and well done to your son!

isa2 · 13/01/2018 15:24

Yes well done Tolacar to your son and to anyone else who had reached the DC threshold!

Re Trinity interviews - I was more wondering whether anyone knows whether they interview lots more than they will be able to make offers to? Obviously we all have to hang on until Feb or March for it all to be finally sorted, but curious what to expect.

Firefox1066 · 13/01/2018 18:48

orangetiger DS2 will also be there on Monday for 10+ Sports Assessment. I don't think its easy to work out numbers because of the various sport specialisms that exist.

Most of those invited will be county/academy level and some will be national level. However, they are great at spotting natural talent and your DS has done well just to be invited to assess as it's very competitive.

Best of luck to your DS on Monday

sooooooonowwhat · 13/01/2018 21:00

Hello all, got home an hour ago to find ds has been invited to DC for interview. He had a really bad time today - says he didn't do the last ten maths questions in his exam today and was uncharacteristically despondent at pick up, DC and exam today are his joint first choice schools so DC interview is a relief. Sorry to hear your bad news isa2, spacecadet and orangina, all I can think each time I drop ds off is how sweet and young all the other dcs look too and how deserving they all are! Good luck to all waiting for more results and to those going for interviews.

spacecadet48 · 13/01/2018 21:53

Great news! I am just hoping for whitgift ....interview Monday and that's my DS 1st choice...
