And any other schools you may wish to add... Have used threads from the previous few years as part of my research and ds sat Trinity today! I'm more of a lurker than a thread starter but decided to bite the bullet and offer a hand to hold. Good luck to all dc's sitting exams over the next few weeks! Grin

MeetieVonWrinkleSqueak i have no idea why she called me, but she did so i can't undo it. Doesn't bother me at all... she wasn't asking me if i was going to accept the place and that wasn't the point of the call, i think she was just proud that one of her pupils had been offered a place and wanted to let me know how well he had done. i don't see that it does any harm to anyone else and what difference it makes if state heads know or not.. you've lost me there i'm afraid..

MeetieVonWrinkleSqueak · 08/02/2018 15:12

orange, it’s not a huge deal at all, it just pisses me off a bit to think that our head may know the results of a process that they had nothing to do with, before I know myself. That just doesn’t feel right to me. But we’ll agree to disagree Smile - and I will keep my fingers crossed that you get the scholarship offer that you are hoping for tomorrow!

soooooooonowwhat · 08/02/2018 15:40

Heads knowing/not knowing aside... I feel nauseous! If I was a smoker right now I'd be having a fag but as it is have just consumed a massive piece of raspberry and coconut cake and am now trapped in the vicious circle of feeling sick with nerves, comfort eating, feeling sick from comfort eating, having a cup of tea, feeling sick with nerves again... and so on...

Tolacar · 08/02/2018 15:52

I just can't wait until I can have a glass of wine....roll on 6pm! I'm going out tonight so I don't sit on the sofa panicking! Good luck everyone! 🤞🤞

IntheMotherhood · 08/02/2018 16:38

I'm back!! Gosh this thread has grown! We didn't receive any post at all today (I'm clearly unpopular)...so I'm now paranoid that there will be no post delivered tomorrow?! 😬

I see your point Meetie and I'd feel the same annoyance at the order of them knowing before me when they've not invested in the journey. That said, it's not reasonable to expect senior schools to sift out Prep and state Heads. And perhaps there's a case that they did have a role just by virtue of leading the school that your DC attended.
Just one of those irritating protocol things that you need to grit your teeth through.

What time would be reasonable to call the school if your post hasn't arrived?! 😜

IntheMotherhood · 08/02/2018 16:41

Orangetiger very well done to your DS. I hope the rest of the news you want and need arrives tomorrow. ✊🏾

spacecadet48 · 08/02/2018 16:47

I think we are just desperate to know ourselves orangetiger! Congrats on your news and fingers crossed it comes with a SS. This is the third time we have gone through it and I had no idea they informed the head. We always got asked by the school and local council which school our child was attending if we didn't accept the local state school. Good luck tomorrow...i am working from home!

Wherearemymarbles · 08/02/2018 16:50

We got no post at all today. If nothing tomorrow we are away till end next week....

Tolacar · 08/02/2018 17:46

This process is not doing any good for my figure...the amount of cake, chocolates and sweets, in fact anything, is out of control! 🍰🍬🍫

Robotsandunicorns · 08/02/2018 18:16

My calorie intake is through the roof today.

I wonder why they can’t send emails?

80sFashion · 08/02/2018 19:08

Hi all,
I've been following this thread but not making any comments, lurking as someone said. I can't believe how many other's are feeling the same emotions as myself this process is painful. Congrats to Orange and your Ds I hope all goes well.
Mettie it's because of your reply about HT knowing first that pushed me to comment, I totally agree with you and get what you're saying. No support from our HT.
My DS is 11+.
I wish you all the best for tomorrow hoping it's good news for your DS and DD.

June1966 · 08/02/2018 19:19

I think those of you who say that state primaries have nothing whatsoever to do with the process and shouldn't be party to any information should not generalise. My son's Headteacher was actually the one who suggested my son might be capable of passing the exam for one of these schools and she went to some trouble to provide good references and direct me to where I could download practice papers. And she was right, he did get in. She was great. I am sorry you have had bad experiences, but that is not necessarily the norm.

orangetiger · 08/02/2018 19:19

meetie and 80's ok I do see you point. Our HT has done nothing to help either and actually i think she probably told me because i was livid with her when i found out that she wrote the reference to W without even talking to DS's form teacher... just ridiculously lazy if you ask me - we are single entry and DS was the only boy doing 10+, it's like she had to fire of a load of letters! Everyone else thank you so much for your kind wishes to my DS and your support over the last month or so - i am still in shock! Wishing you all the best of luck for tomorrow, i am sure all your DS's & DD's will have done brilliantly... x

Puddinglane12 · 08/02/2018 19:27

My, it has been busy on here today. orangetiger congratulations to your DS. Well done to him.

Wishing everyone the very best, for good news tomorrow, and hope our posties, play ball. One more sleep. I'm shattered and ready for bed.

sara176 · 08/02/2018 20:12

I would like to wish you all the best for tomorrow. The primary school has received letter regarding the results today.
Unfortunately I have been given little clue that my DS may be in waiting list for W . absolutely gutted 😭😭. I don't know how the waiting list work .

sara176 · 08/02/2018 20:20

One of the year 6 child from my Ds class was prefect today and was helping in school office . He said to me DS that he read the letter. Sad

truelove · 08/02/2018 20:54

So sorry you didn’t get the news you wanted - but what a way to find out!! Assuming of course the information is correct. I hope you’ll be speaking to the school office - they may have to tighten up their data protection procedures!!

sara176 · 08/02/2018 21:25

Absolutely not happy about how I found out. I would preferred to have found it out tomorrow as it's not the news I was hoping.

MeetieVonWrinkleSqueak · 08/02/2018 21:55

Shock Sara, if that is true, that's outrageous! Very stern words need to be had with the school if the prefect is telling the truth. They should not be reading any letters at all, even if they are helping out in the office! And maybe the indies need to be sure that the primaries absolutely understand the protocol before letting them know the results...

I hope that the child was just winding you up for some reason, and that you get better news tomorrow.

We're almost there! very best of luck to everyone. Our post didn't arrive until about 1pm today, so it could be a looong morning. I'm supposed to be WFH tomorrow, but I can't imagine that much actual work will be done (does obsessively checking this thread count as work?!)

orangina · 08/02/2018 22:06

Good luck to everyone for tomorrow!

sara176 · 08/02/2018 22:08

thank you Meetie, and good luck for tomorrow .👍

80sFashion · 08/02/2018 22:14

sara176
Please try not to worry to much.
I hope this is false information.

80sFashion · 09/02/2018 06:37

Good morning all,

I woke up at 3:30, just sooo tense my head hurts my stomach is in knots.
Today gonna drag.
Good luck all

SoupDragon · 09/02/2018 07:25

I remember “tidying up” DS1’s room whilst waiting for DS2’s letters. His room gave the best view of the whole road for postman spotting!

Good luck everyone :)

MeetieVonWrinkleSqueak · 09/02/2018 07:29

I have a nervous DS2 here!

He asked me when the letter would arrive, so I told him maybe not until lunchtime.

He then looked very crestfallen and said “oh, I thought maybe the school bus driver would bring it when he picks up DS1”. Grin
