Its 2018....countdown to 1st March secondary school allocations!

Well two months down and two to go to 1st March. I have been fairly chilled since applications were submitted however now that 2018 is here it is creeping into my thoughts more frequently.

We are truly lucky to live in a town with very good secondary schools but I know DD would be heartbroken if she didn't get her first choice (a top 10 non selective girls school).

Realistically we should be virtually sure of a place as if we don't qualify on distance within our feeder school group then she should get a sports aptitude place (she score 10 percentage points higher than the required score for the last 3 years). However a part of me is still nervous as I imagine what if all 200 girls taking the aptitude test got amazing scores too. Logically I know this isn't the case as other girls at her school score 20-25 marks lower than DD but there are only 9 places available so the margin of error is small.

Anyone else beginning to get jittery? Please tell me I'm not alone.

Stupid stinky London.

Dancergirl · 01/03/2018 15:09

gemm I think the London boroughs will be 5pm.

Milkymilk · 01/03/2018 15:10

We only put 2 choices so a bit nervous as checked after and we were out of catchment for both the last 3 years ....
But if worst happens will go on waiting lists.
I think we get the emails after 5 pm
Just hope ds gets one of them !

Toomanycats99 · 01/03/2018 15:10

@Dancergirl yes - outer London borough. She failed 11+ but liked our eventual first choice. Not sure how other friends getting grammar places may affect her though as I think it's likely to set of her upset again after having got over it.

Thank you tiggytape for your valuable and informative advice.

RueDeWakening · 01/03/2018 15:42

@Toomanycats99 I hope she's OK come 5pm.

The snow day isn't helping, nothing to take their minds off it! Though mine has been busy playing computer games, allegedly to "take her mind off things", yeah right :o

1hr15 to go...

Yes so true! Dd has 2 friends over today, her school was open but they closed early. I was planning on taking them out somewhere to keep busy and away from the computer but with this weather we thought we'd better come straight home.

wineoclockthanks · 01/03/2018 15:46

DS2 has been at school but is also on the x-box as today is "such a historic day" 😁

Toomanycats99 · 01/03/2018 15:48

@RueDeWakening

I thinks she wants it to be over. floods of tears over a simple homework question last night. All really just a symptom of this I think.

We didn't finish school until 1.30 she hiding in her room sewing I think as I try and work.

Good luck for your first choice.

Loueytb3 · 01/03/2018 15:52

DS got his first choice (grammar). So bloody relieved. We have moved house and area in the last year with the aim of giving him the chance to get a place at the grammar and it has paid off.

Dancergirl · 01/03/2018 15:53

Well done to your ds louey

marytuda · 01/03/2018 15:53

Tense business for sure - and I keep saying I don’t care v much, all our listed schools are great!
Just now at pickup DS, who has not mentioned it all week (nor I to him) said “mum - it’s 1st of March. What secondary school am I going to?” I said I don’t know yet but nottoworrytheyareallbrilliant. He went off to play with mates in the snow.

Why isn’t it 17.00 yet?!? Argh! 60 minute countdown!

Sittinginthesun · 01/03/2018 16:01

Thanks, Shattered. Such a stressful business.

Loueytb3 · 01/03/2018 16:01

Thanks Dancergirl.

I hadn't realised that London didn't get their results until 5pm. That explains the FB silence from all my old friends.

dipsydoo22 · 01/03/2018 16:06

1 hour to go

Stircrazyschoolmum · 01/03/2018 16:16

45 minutes!!

Dancergirl · 01/03/2018 16:27

Half an hour!

Dancergirl · 01/03/2018 16:28

I'm suddenly convinced dd isn't going to get her first choice, and very much wanted, school. I don't know why.

MCSpammer · 01/03/2018 16:28

Does anyone know exactly where on the eAdmissions website your choice will be? There doesn't appear to be a 'you got this school' page/tab

FrLukeDuke · 01/03/2018 16:36

I can't see either MC but i know last time i was able to log on and see so maybe it just appears when you log in after 5

Stircrazyschoolmum · 01/03/2018 16:37

Mild panic whilst I try to remember my log on details and password!
