I can’t even begin to think of NYE as it just means it’s January tomorrow which mean entrance exam hell! Anyone else stressed?! Good luck everyone!

Btw if anyone wants to do a LEH 2018 starters get together pm me. Dd is coming from junior school so happy to pass on whatever we know!

diva100 · 04/02/2018 12:36

Still no news Vicky, thank you for checking in. Well done!!

Lotsofsighing · 05/02/2018 10:14

Well I've really had enough of the waiting now. First batch of results is coming in on Friday. Second next week when we'll be away anyway.

I've absolutely no idea which school we want anyway if we should even get a choice in the matter.

And then there's a state school I really fancy that we've got an outside chance of getting into so that's another month of indecision.

Sallystyle · 05/02/2018 18:57

We are still waiting to see if our daughter has been accepted.

Although there was a mix up with the bursary form which wasn't our fault. So if she is offered a place it will be provisional based on the results of the bursary application as we are only in the beginning stages of that.

I should hear any time this week. I am stressed with it all to be honest. Can't wait to find out one way or another.

Until she was put forward by the school a private school never crossed my mind, but now she is so excited about it she will be devastated if she doesn't get in.

Good luck everyone Thanks

Love2dance · 09/02/2018 09:29

And so the frantic checking of email begins...
Courage!

londonista1 · 09/02/2018 09:46

CLS emailed at 9 on the dot. Good news for us, good luck to everyone else waiting.

WarmAndco3y · 09/02/2018 09:55

I know right!!! I wish we were notified by email. Instead we have to wait for snail mail, if and when our post man shows his face today.

At work this morning, so I really hope he has come ( with good news, as well), before I do the school run later. I’m not asking for too much am I? 😜

WarmAndco3y · 09/02/2018 09:55

Congratulations londonista well done to your DD. You must be so relieved 😅

Thak · 09/02/2018 11:28

Anyone received anything from John Lyon? We are expecting that one today and the rest next week.

Lotsofsighing · 09/02/2018 12:24

We've got yeses from the three that were coming today and I've already been told that it's a yes for the one next week (she had a scholarship interview). The one that said it would email those with a place hasn't emailed, the one that didn't say anything about emailing did so I was convinced the first had rejected us and was trying to get my head round the second option but then came home to a letter.

It's three of the girls' consortium ones. One's definitely out so we'll have to go to the offers morning/afternoon for the others which irritatingly happen to be on the day I work, theatre tickets, son's parents evening etc, etc.

DD has no idea that they were coming today. And she'll shrug as she seems disengaged from whole process.

I feel weirdly deflated. I think because I don't have any strong instincts and I worry about her so much that I don't want to get it wrong.

Backingvocals · 09/02/2018 12:33

DD just got a yes from CLS too. I'm very pleased. Still waiting on three others but that would be my top choice but not hers (she wants St Marylebone or Sth Hampstead). Well done Londonista's DD. It's lovely to have one in the bank.

Heliophilous · 09/02/2018 12:46

We have a yes from the school we wanted. So so so glad it is all over.

Lotsofsighing · 09/02/2018 12:49

Backingvocals - why does your daughter want SHHS? That's one we're mulling over (v Channing or Camden if the catchment gods align).

Good luck with the results though I'm guessing that if she got CLSG she'll most likely get SHHS too (dd's tutor told us not to bother with City, out of her league!).

I'm very proud of my daughter as she was very resistant and was almost sacked by the tutor. She goes to a state school where nobody else applies so it's hard persuading her to do work that others aren't.

Elibean · 09/02/2018 13:13

Sighing, congrats to your dd. My eldest was the only girl to sit 11+ in her year at state primary too, and also resisted tutoring (refused might be more accurate!). She also flatly refused to sit for any school except the one she wanted to go to Hmm - so I relate to the stress and relief!

Hope she is happy wherever you end up choosing - what a great problem to have Smile

Love2dance · 09/02/2018 13:26

Well done everyone!
No news from JL but an offer from St Albans so very pleased and relieved. It will be nice to give DS some good news later.

Thak · 09/02/2018 13:33

Love2dance is that for 11+? We are waiting for 13+ and told that St. Albans would be next week 16th.

Love2dance · 09/02/2018 14:06

Hi Thak, yes for 11+.

Backingvocals · 09/02/2018 14:10

sighing she liked the feel of it and the architecture and the friendliness. I do know where she is coming from. I thought she would love City and she is pretty academic so there would be a fit there but it's quite ugly as a building and I think it just didn't speak to her!

Also I asked the teachers at CLSG what their biggest challenge was and they all said the pressure the girls put on themselves to be the best at everything including who's got the longest hair and who did the most lengths in the pool! I'm sure that's the case everywhere to a degree these days but I didn't get that sense so much at SHHS.

Anyway, as I say, she wants SHHS and I wanted City so if she gets other offers we'll have to have a think.

Thak · 09/02/2018 14:24

Ok thanks love2dance. Wish ours were all arriving today! We are in the midst of planning our move back to the UK and knowing which school they are both going to would really help the limbo feeling we are in right now!! Lol! JL said they would be emailing the results rather than posting as we are abroad but not had anything yet.

Thak · 09/02/2018 14:31

Huge congratulations to all that have positive news today!!

Lotsofsighing · 09/02/2018 14:53

Backing which is the easier journey of City and SHHS?

I did like SHHS's building especially the astro pitch that seems so central to all. I really wanted to like City as it's the nearest and I like that it seems the least 'private' but dd didn't particularly enjoy the taster day there and I felt it would be madness to apply to such a selective school if we weren't sure about it.

That said, I know plenty of parents who rave about it and their daughters are delightful.

Lotsofsighing · 09/02/2018 14:54

And thanks Elibean for your congratulations. Although it's hard applying from a state at the same time I think one's spared a lot of the aggro and comparisons.

WarmAndco3y · 09/02/2018 15:10

Good news here. DD got offers from all schools she sat. Can’t wait to tell her later

WarmAndco3y · 09/02/2018 15:10

Congratulations to everyone on good news, it’s decision time

MrsPatmore · 09/02/2018 15:10

I think CLGS are still operating an 'exploding offers' system. If it's your first choice, you'll need to accept fairly swiftly.
