Hard to belive that I was here 5 years ago sweating it out for the results of his secondary school offer!

Only a few days now bwfore the GCSE results come out. DS is starting to get nervous....as am I!

DD is chatting on the phone to a good friend whilst antagonising the hamster. At least she's not sitting in her room fretting, which was my worry for this evening.

I think I need a brandy...

Justchillaxing · 23/08/2017 21:26

We can collect dds results at 8 a.m.

Thefeelgoodfactor · 23/08/2017 21:37

We can also collect DS's results at 8am (Wales)

He's his usual laid back self whereas I know I'll be awake very early like it's Christmas 🎄

Justchillaxing · 23/08/2017 21:41

Wales here too thefeelgood Smile

However dd is very much NOT laid back.

booellesmum · 23/08/2017 21:45

JumpingJoey -
That has just made me laugh out loud.
My DD is exactly the same.
Reminds me I need to make sure her portable charger is ready to go for Leeds...

Thefeelgoodfactor · 23/08/2017 21:50

DS didn't get stressed beforehand either, he appeared to me to do the minimum of work. He's staying on for 6th form to do A level maths, chemistry and biology. He's needs a minimum of grade B in his subjects. He sat GCSE maths last year and got A* so he's ok there but he says he found further maths hard.

I think he'll find the step up from gcse to a level huge. Just hope he knuckles down as I think he's a bit cocky as he found gcse level easy (we'll see tomorrow)

FairNotFair · 23/08/2017 21:52

DS has shut himself in his bedroom with YouTube. Same as every other night. Can't wait for tomorrow to be over Wine

oftenlurkingrarelyposting · 23/08/2017 22:11

I feel like we've wasted weeks of holiday wishing this day to come. DD has been quite calm until tonight but is now trying to relive every exam paper - she has to get B's as a minimum and with no contingency plan in place I need wine!

CiderwithBuda · 23/08/2017 22:12

Eusebius - it's boarding and day. Sorry should have been clearer. Open tomorrow for year 11s. Results emailed out at 8am though apparently. I think they can go in from 10.

Reds rule - I've no idea what he knows. it was banter between DS and his friend really.

Notanothergiraffe · 23/08/2017 22:26

DS is clearly very nervous. He is sitting on the patio with DH and me drinking a beer to try and get him to sleep! Fingers crossed for all 🤞

applesareredandgreen · 23/08/2017 22:26

DS is meeting his friends beforehand and they are going into school together. He needs 6 Bs for his first choice 6th form. He has just admitted that he doesn't think he's got this, With a couple of subjects probably at a D.

He is still sounding confident of getting in as he thinks the college has offered a certain amount of places and they'll want to fill them. Im not do sure - but we'll see tomorrow.

Another one going to Leeds but just on the Sunday- although it sounds that he will be spending the night in the bus station as his coach back isn't til about 5 in the morning (he's with very sensible friends)

LIZS · 23/08/2017 22:29

We're in from 10am. Dd had a few friends over this evening and all seemed pretty chilled, accepting of whatever fate tomorrow, with little pre results chat.

applesareredandgreen · 23/08/2017 22:29

I think I'm nervous for both of us - he's just asked for money for a subway breakfast - before he gets his results!! I won't be able to eat a thing!

ComputerUserNotTrained · 23/08/2017 22:31

Evening all. I've not read much of the thread, having been in denial about tomorrow.

DS is away, so school are emailing his results to me (with his blessing). Anyone know if there's a norm for how this happens? Will the emails all be sent at 0900 or something?

JumpingJoey · 23/08/2017 22:38

booellesmum it made me laugh too! She had a little moan/panic about maths then announced she's no money on her card, all pants in the wash, can't find her sleeping bag and no ID except her passport. I think they only need ID for drinks so that's not going to happen. She's found an old glitter kit though so all is not lost 😫 I thought I hid all glitter when she was about 6! May be up a while........

booellesmum · 23/08/2017 22:44

JumpingJoey -
Mine has just announced really needs wellies so now we've got to squeeze in last minute wellie shopping after results!

JumpingJoey · 23/08/2017 22:45

Get welly socks too as neighbour's Dd came back with a ring of blisters round each shin

booellesmum · 23/08/2017 22:47

Thanks for the tip.
Have fun with the glitter and good luck for tomorrow.

oftenlurkingrarelyposting · 23/08/2017 22:50

Anyone else have this.... my DD is at boarding school so not open for results, she gets sent them at 0800 we get sent them at 0900?!?

DrMadelineMaxwell · 23/08/2017 23:08

Wales here too. We (they) get them at 9.

I shall be sat in the car trying to read my kindle while DD goes in to collect them. She's an anti social thing (always has been) and doesn't want to interact much with any of her friends as she's had a bit of a ride with some of them and is keen to pick them up and leave asap.

Fleurdelise · 23/08/2017 23:35

Checking in, good to see old nicknames from the support thread.

9am for us - DS was in a foul mood this evening, very quiet and if you asked him if he's ok all we got was him snapping "of course I am, why wouldn't I be!!!". He's convinced himself he failed all his exams, he started stressing about 5 days ago. We have given up engaging in the end as it would have ended up in an argument.

He's also going to Reading festival (providing he hasn't failed all his exams) so packing his bag hopefully took his mind of it.

Fleurdelise · 23/08/2017 23:35

Good luck for tomorrow everyone!

Dancergirl · 23/08/2017 23:36

We can't collect results till 10am!

Dd and her friends are discussing grade boundaries which apparently have already been released. Not sure how reliable the source is though....

booellesmum · 23/08/2017 23:41

Just been looking at edexcel maths grade boundaries on student room.
Hoping they are really that low.

HappyMum543 · 23/08/2017 23:42

I'm more nervous then my son 10 am my DS school tomorrow. Good luck to all the DC
