It is 13+ I am also talking about!
DS is not in a prep school so I am due to be told tomorrow. A bit annoying but his current private school is not that organised with an aim of delivering the results in the same manner as the other schools.

I'm being thick here - aren't all privates preps? I'd be pissed off with the school for not getting the results out faster. Good luck for tomorrow.

Originalbiglymavis. - I think the person's son is currently attending a private secondary school with pupils age 11- 18 but intends to leave to go to Eton., As I understand it all prep schools go up to age 13 and their whole reason to exist is to prepare children for Independent secondary school or as we used to call them Public Schools.

originalbiglymavis · 18/06/2017 11:04

Ah that explains it. Some preps just go through to 11 though.

Missingthepoint · 18/06/2017 11:11

Yes I agree some preps only go up to 11. I think it tends to depend on the local normal transfer age. I live in an area with a number of Grammar schools as well as independents. A number of the preps only go to 11 because that is the age a lot of children transfer to senior day schools. Obviously there are some preps that go to 13 as there are a number of Independents that have an entry at that age.
