Very impressed with ds1 today. Possibly outing myself a bit here but he went into school, on a Saturday, in the middle of the holidays for a three hour revision session. Shock and he seemed to enjoy it. Grin

DD's dress was meant to be ready but the shop is being very flakey. Had to have it taken in as dd is such a skinny Minnie. worrying now they have sold it someone else and she won't be going to the prom. #Cinderella. #firstworldproblems.

Yes, DS has 2 exams in the first week, 3 in the second, then half term, 6 in the 3rd week and then just 3 more after that. He's going to be mightily sick of revision.

EllenJanethickerknickers · 02/04/2016 23:51

That doesn't look as heavy as your DD, though. He's already done core science and only has additional this year. Some of his subjects have only 1 exam and a high level of coursework.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/04/2016 08:16

dd has one pretty crackers week. I can't remember how many though. I think it is the week before half term, so the week before they go on study leave.

Bluelilies · 03/04/2016 08:34

DS and DSD both have one week with 8 each I think, though thankfully never more than 2 in a day and most are only 1-1.5 hours. I remember having two 3-hour exams in a day as a student so theirs should be manageable.

228agreenend · 03/04/2016 09:04

Ds has two heavy weeks, just before and after half term I think. At the end, he then has two clear weeks before his DT exam, so he's not really revising for that at the moment, apart from a token session.

Had a nice day out to the coast yesterday, and wandered along the beach in the morning, and watched ds2 in a sporting fixture in the afternoon. Ds2 had a complete break from revision apart from Tassomai. Nice to have a family day out.

Hoping ds will do some work this morning, then we can go out this afternoon.

TheSecondOfHerName · 03/04/2016 09:52

The week beginning the 6th June is the worst one for DS1. It's also the week that the younger three have end-of-year internal exams and DH is going to be abroad. I will mostly be stressing.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/04/2016 10:56

That will be fun TheSecond!

We are heading out on a family day too. No revising allowed!

I'm also on a similar support thread on another forum, and it all kicked off! I hadn't realised that GCSE revision was such a controversial subject...

Ooh Second what happened? Wink

TheSecondOfHerName · 03/04/2016 22:43

It's a forum for parents that I joined when looking for information when DS1 decided that he wanted to sit the exam for our local partially selective secondary schools.

Although this weekend it seemed more like AIBU.

One heated debate about MyGCSEScience videos, and then another about whether to track marks from past papers using raw scores or UMS points.

TheSecondOfHerName · 03/04/2016 22:45

When it came to the discussion about UMS points, I quietly got my coat. The only past papers DS1 has done in their entirety are Maths papers, and that was only because they were set for homework and even then he forgot to do two of them and his Maths teacher had to email me

We should all be helping each other through these tough times

Exactly. Excuse the uncharacteristic sentimentality, but I'm v. grateful for you lot.
