Sugar - I've done DD's hair a million times for different dances, so I was a bit offended she wanted to go to the hairdresser. There were no tears, but there was some lip wobbling.

That must be very difficult for you Poppy Flowers

HSM, bet she wishes she hadn't bothered afterwards ! We drove down to see them arrive and get friend had totally redone it, she looked lovely and was smiling so all good in the end .

dingit · 26/06/2015 20:16

Just back from prom drop off. Had a lovely time watching everyone arrive, and photos taken, was there 45 mins until they all went in. Hope it all goes well dd was nervous. They are crowning a prom king and queen, she will get crowned shrinking violet.

OddBoots · 26/06/2015 20:29

I could have posted exactly the same post dingit (except mine is a he).

poppym12 · 26/06/2015 20:33

I hope they all enjoy their nights.

spudmasher · 26/06/2015 20:50

Interesting all the DDs not liking their hairdresser do. I felt like that on my wedding day- just didn't look like me! Got home and shook the whole lot out and felt a lot better.
A friend is doing DDs on Friday next week. They've had a trial run, so I'm hoping it'll be fine. DD booked into MAC for make up so hoping that turns out ok.......it's £20 but nothing if you buy that much worth in product. Let's see what happens. I'm already on edge.
Is there such a word as 'Promzilla'????? Let's hope we never find out.......

LynetteScavo · 26/06/2015 20:53

Ahhh...somewhat of a disaster with transport, but DS is there now....another mum has even sent me a photo she took of DS smiling....he would never have let me take a photo of him!

Poppy I sure your DS and his dad will be able to sort out the next bit. Flowers

TheWoollybacksWife · 26/06/2015 21:09

Poppy Flowers

Spud DD2 had a MAC makeover last year and looked stunning afterwards. Really subtle. Costs a bloody fortune to keep her in foundation and concealer now though.

DD1 loved her hair but hated her makeup for her Yr11 prom. She looked like she was channeling her inner Amy Winehouse. She went home and washed it off and redid it. No such worries with DD2 - she has spent most of her teens of last month watching YouTube make up tutorials. I hope she'll let me post a photo next week - although it may have to go on my profile again, so I can delete it if she gets cold feet.

LynetteScavo · 26/06/2015 21:18

Just out of curiosity, how much did you all give your DC to spend at the prom?

DH gave DS1 £50, which I thought was far to much, but DS1 never, ever asks for anything, and he went in his school shoes (polished to perfection by DH) partly because he doesn't like the feel of new shoes.

But then I started wondering if it was a normal amount. Confused

Horsemad · 26/06/2015 21:19

Awww, was really lovely seeing them all arriving at their prom! Smile
Hmm, there is an after party now, so Mum's taxi will be on duty! Smile

Horsemad · 26/06/2015 21:19

DS took £40 I think, courtesy of DH Hmm

dingit · 26/06/2015 21:27

I think dd looked nice, but hope she doesn't regret the short dress. It is lace bty, but doesn't show in photo.

Btw

dingit · 26/06/2015 21:31

Shit, I gave dd £10. She will only have a couple of drinks, everything else was paid for.

TheWoollybacksWife · 26/06/2015 21:33

She's beautiful Dingit, that colour really suits her.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 26/06/2015 21:40

Whoops I didn't give DD any money to take to her prom Blush
She didn't say she needed any though? Maybe it's an "all inclusive" - I hope so
Spent all afternoon in town and then personalising some little cards and pressies for a couple of friends with upcoming birthdays - eventually let me take her round to her friends house to get ready with about half hour before they'd need to leave. Hopefully that was enough!
Hope they're all having a good night. Am on call now for the post-prom Mum taxi service Smile
Hope someone's taking some pics too!

dingit · 26/06/2015 21:43

Awe, thanks woolly.

I did tell her to make sure she took some pictures of her teachers. Not so much for now, but in years gone by she can look back and have a giggle.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 26/06/2015 21:49

Thanks for posting lovely pic dingit - I don't think dd would let me post one of hers. Haven't got one yet anyway due to the getting ready with friends thing. ds just said he wanted to stay up to see his DSis when she gets home which I thought was sweet.
It worked anyway he got a Friday night bedtime extension off his Ma - he's canny like that Grin

spudmasher · 26/06/2015 21:50

Dingit......wow. Your DD is beautiful. Lovely. Proud?? You must be POPPING!

Woolly, good to hear about the MAC thing. My DD is mixed race with a very varied skin tone as she's had eczema on her face for years leaving scars, plus a big tick shaped birth mark on her forehead so she's a bit sensitive about the whole thing despite the trade she's chosen- performing arts....

Horsemad · 26/06/2015 21:52

dingit, she looks lovely Smile Red was a very popular choice at our prom, I liked virtually every dress, they looked so grown up!

SugarPlumTree · 26/06/2015 21:58

I gave DD a tenner too Dingit. Your DD looks fabulous !! Would love to post DD but she will kill me. She's also in a short dress, navy lace.

HSMMaCM · 26/06/2015 21:59

I hope DD didn't need any money for prom! I missed the car she arrived in because it had tinted windows. She decided she hated her dress, but looked amazing on the red carpet. Slightly misty eyed this evening.

Aww, dingit your DD looks fabulous! Smile

There seem to be lots of navy suits and brown shoes from what I can tell from the photos of the prom I've seen so far.....it looks like a young estate agents convention. Does no one do black tie these days?

HSMMaCM · 26/06/2015 22:22

She looked so happy doesn't happen often

HSM another beautiful young lady.

Young estate agents convention Grin

DD is away for the weekend at the seaside with her friend and her friend's parents. It's the first time she's been out of my sight since she was ill and I'm shuttling between worry and the prospect of some grown up time with DH Wink
