We have been offered Wilson's so I guess we will be declining the KGS offer.

I feel super sad because I loved the feel of KGS. But Wilson's is a great school & free.

DarkBlueEyes · 02/03/2015 19:06

have just heard someone we knew didn't get their preferred local state so I logged in and declined immediately. Really hoping that they get a place, they are so upset. :(

DarkBlueEyes · 02/03/2015 19:09

Me again. I asked for my last two posts to be withdrawn as I was sharing information that I didn't feel comfortable about - so thought the better of it! Nothing exciting to report I am afraid other than that I have heard from a couple of separate sources that wait lists are moving....

zubi007 · 02/03/2015 19:16

On which schools do you know? I haven't heard anything. On Wl for Phs and whs ....

Twickersm0m · 02/03/2015 19:34

MaeMobley - that's so thoughtful of you, to decline once you have made your choice rather then letting the deadline just expire for the offer. My DC is on KGS WL, so hope your good deed offers us something. Good karma!! Zubi007 - please tell us more? Pretty please.

MaeMobley · 02/03/2015 19:39

Twickersm0m, I can feel the anxiety around me so totally understand.

busygirl70 · 02/03/2015 19:45

Just heard SPGS WL moved this afternoon, hopefully this will have some impact on other schools.

TeddTess · 02/03/2015 19:52

we got waldegrave and will be declining it for KGS. hope to make someone happy.

wheresthebeach · 02/03/2015 20:03

We were told Emanuel wouldn't move til after 5th...

mertonmama · 02/03/2015 20:04

We got Tiffin and will decline it for Putney.

Waitingandhoping2015 · 02/03/2015 20:08

DarkBlue - saw your posts and good call. When we were at one school the Head and admissions made a comment about mumsnet and it was clear from the comment that they'd been looking on here at all the panicking parents...

DarkBlueEyes · 02/03/2015 20:30

Ooh Waitingandhoping which school? You can PM me....

Just heard three of kids at my school got Twickenham Academy, which they HAD NOT APPLIED FOR. What's that all about? How can you get offered a school that you didn't apply for?

And it's bloody MILES away, and there's no public transport there. I mean WTAF? I've just posted on Facebook to ask everyone to immediately decline a state they don't want.

For the record Grin if you've been offered Christ's school, and you don't want it, please can you log in and decline asap? I have two good friends who are desperate for a place.

I know of 8 so far who have declined, really praying for my friends. Sad

wheresthebeach · 02/03/2015 20:30

Congrats Merton!

Twickersm0m · 02/03/2015 20:37

We also got Twickenham Academy, a school we hadn't even put down. We put down 6 schools we preferred and got one we didn't like/ want.

DarkBlueEyes · 02/03/2015 20:43

How does that work Twickers? I just looked on the league tables (via BBC) and Twickenham Academy is bottom equal. What will you do? How can they possibly offer a school you haven't even applied for? and that you can't get public transport to? I just don't understand... big hugs to you and everyone who didn't get what they wanted.

wheresthebeach · 02/03/2015 20:51

If you get a school you don't want you need to accept - the council has done their duty and you are in limbo and out of the system if you decline the offer.

It's about staying on the waiting list for the other schools. They will move.

Don't come out of the system!

If you get a school you haven't applied for it's because all the ones you have applied for are over subscribed and the council allocates where there is space. There is a duty to offer you a school, not to offer what you want - choice can be an illusion. It's a bulge year.

DarkBlueEyes · 02/03/2015 21:04

So if you decline the school you don't want wheresthebeach, that is that? But I imagine if you accept then they won't keep you on a wait list? Blimey that's a catch 22!

I declined immediately and can't remember what the other options were but seem to think there was one there which allowed you to remain on the other schools list but not sure now...

TeddTess · 02/03/2015 21:10

You have to accept and also ask to stay on wait lists for schools you do want. This is just the first round allocations. There'll be massive movement between now and September.

Elibean · 02/03/2015 21:57

dd got the school we applied for (the only state we applied for, RPA) but shockingly - for the first time ever in her primary's history - almost none of her friends got RPA. They live about half a mile further away. It must be seriously oversubscribed this year.

They all got Twickenham Academy, which is miles away and no one ever even bothered to visit. dd knows how lucky she is having a choice (between two schools she loved - and she's chosen Kew) but gutted that all her friends are in floods of tears. Me, too.

castlesintheair · 02/03/2015 22:02

What a crazy year! Pleased to be out of it now. Happy for your DD Elibean and everyone else who got what they wanted. Fingers crossed for lots of list movement.

Elibean · 02/03/2015 22:05

Thanks Castles x Yes, a crazy year.

wheresthebeach · 02/03/2015 22:11

In wandsworth you automatically go on wait lists for all schools that you listed above the one you got. As the places come up they will contact you and offer you. If you are out of the system then that's it.

If you decline the school you are offered then you are toast.

Last year our neighbour got RPA, this year we didn't! It must be hugely over subscribed this year as we are about 2 miles away.

wheresthebeach · 02/03/2015 22:20

See Tiggy's post on the March 2nd waiting thread to explain wait lists. I don't know how to link to the exact comment but it was posted at 12:12 today.

Chocfinger · 02/03/2015 22:21

RPA must be massively oversubscribed this year. Many parents where i am were impressed by it and put it down as an option (assuming it was indeed an option!) including myself but clearly not. We did get our first state choice - SRR- so thrilled and completely at a loss of which to choose. Kgs or SRR...
TEDTESs how did you decide between KGS and Waldegrave?
