Mocks this week, and the reality of AS exams in a few months is starting to hit home. I don't think it will be an easy journey, so would welcome some company.

Onwards indeed! DD has French this morning (her best subject - hope she feels today reflects that!) and then a blessed 2 1/2 week gap. In theory she is supposed to stay at school after her exam for a maths lesson last period. In practice, after a crappy day yesterday and being upset because she still hasn't seen my mum, I told her to leave school after the exam, get some lunch and go to the hospital.

Thinking of those in exams today xxx

Dunlurking · 21/05/2015 09:00

Hope your dd's French goes well Atiao. Ds announced he wasn't doing any revision for tomorrow's General Studies exam until tomorrow - in other words it's a day off!

Ds is going to the Ancient history/classics talk as well as the History one at Durham on the 22nd June mateysmum. I'm just going to the parents' guide talk at 12.10 and a college tour and lounging around drinking coffee and reading the paper somewhere while ds sorts himself out

TranquilityofSolitude · 21/05/2015 09:04

My Dd has her last exam this morning, which is Sociology. We are also intending to go to Durham on the 22nd - looks as if it's going to be very busy!

Hope your DD's French goes well this morning, Atia, and that she gets to see your mum this afternoon.

GentlyBenevolent · 21/05/2015 09:05

DD1 is adamant that you can't revise for GS. She got an A in the AS last year, on no revision, so maybe she has the right strategy. Her next exam is June 2, and it's the most important one, so she is in school today to revise. She took a night off last night though, and she isn't going to work at all over the bank holiday.

Leeds2 · 21/05/2015 09:07

DD has Biology this afternoon, then Chemistry tomorrow.

She is very cross that some of her friends will have finished all of their exams before half term!

GentlyBenevolent · 21/05/2015 09:21

Swings and roundabouts innit. Some people had lots of exams in the first week (DD1 for example). Some people had to do lotsof coursework. Some people's exams are really quite long (English was 2.5 hours, and there was a geography paper afterwards). DD1's friend had to sit for between 4-5 hours doing exams back to back because of a timetable clash. It all evens out in the end.

TranquilityofSolitude · 21/05/2015 09:24

Yes, DD had two days last week when she had both a morning and an afternoon exam. She is delighted to be finishing today but she thinks she would have done better if her exams had been more spread out.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 21/05/2015 10:11

DD2 was in floods of tears after yesterday's C2, but perked up a bit when she went through an unofficial mark scheme on the Student Room - depending on the grade boundaries she's probably done OK. Whether it's enough for her first choice uni or not remains to be seen Sad.

D1 has her final ever exam today, so lots of stressy panicking by phone. Thankfully it wasn't yesterday, as I don't think I could have coped with both of them crying at me at the same time Smile

hellsbells99 · 21/05/2015 10:50

Biology here this afternoon too for both DDs. DD2 eventually got up at 10am and is now in the shower - she doesn't seem to be worrying about last minute revision Hmm

ISingSoprano · 21/05/2015 11:00

Biology for dd this afternoon too and then a break until after half term. I have a day off tomorrow and am taking dd out for the day for some indulgent mother/daughter time.

GentlyBenevolent · 21/05/2015 11:28

Apparently we are going to go to Dartmoor on the weekend (for part of the weekend - we are going to Cardiff on Monday).

For whoever it was who asked - we live on the southwest peninsular. It's a bugger to get ANYWHERE.

Needmoresleep · 21/05/2015 11:33

But beautiful! Don't they have border controls before entering Cornwall?

DD skipped off happily today, though essentially a twilight subject so she is a bit insecure about some of the material. Chemistry tomorrow. Big Eurovision party on Saturday night. Then hopefully lots of revision for the final, neglected, four. She is in danger of running out of steam.

GentlyBenevolent · 21/05/2015 11:36

We live in Devon. There are border controls both ends. Really, it's an initiative test - if you can get FGW to take you here without trouble then you are smart enough to get in.

GentlyBenevolent · 21/05/2015 11:37

Apparently DD1 has skipped through 6 harmony past papers this morning. Thing is though - she is shit hot at harmony. It's the other bit of the paper she needs to work on!

SecretSquirrels · 21/05/2015 15:37

Biology today was "really hard but not awful", whatever that means Hmm.
Chemistry tomorrow and then a week off!

hellsbells99 · 21/05/2015 16:51

DD1 who was retaking AQA biology said it was better than last year's! DD2 has not come home yet to ask - gone to a friends instead of revising for tomorrow's chemistry Hmm

ISingSoprano · 21/05/2015 17:31

Phew - dd reports her biology was 'fine - happy with that'.

MrsUltracrepidarian · 21/05/2015 18:10

Another on here with biology today (DS said was ok - phew - relief after the maths & physics) and chemistry tomorrow then a week off and a full week after half-term. I had a bit of a panic today because in my diary I had DS going on a DoE practice expedition next week which seemed completely bonkers. Luckily just checked with DS and they have put the date back till after the exams (why wouldn't you??) and he forgot to tell me...

MorvahRising · 21/05/2015 22:53

. . . . . and now I have discovered that DS has the Debating Society dinner on the evening of the day we're going to the Bristol open day. That's going to be a rapid run up the M4.

Good luck to everyone doing chemistry tomorrow! And anything else as well.

BernadetteMatthews · 22/05/2015 06:49

Enjoying the break here, good luck for all the chemistry do-ers today and happy half term to all.

Northernlurker · 22/05/2015 08:10

Biology seems to have gone ok yesterday. Chemistry today..........hope, hope, hope it goes well.

AtiaoftheJulii · 22/05/2015 10:10

Good to be hearing ok reports of the biology, hope today's chemistry turns out ok too.

Marni23 · 22/05/2015 10:42

Yes glad Biology went well and fingers crossed Chemistry does too.

Atia how was French? Hope your DD was happier with it.

We are out the other side now and the relief that they are all over is lovely!

Northernlurker · 22/05/2015 12:03

chemistry paper similar to previous years apparently. Dd seems happy enough.

AtiaoftheJulii · 22/05/2015 12:09

French was fine, thank goodness Smile thanks for asking Smile And she had a chat with her history teacher that cheered her up a little bit. And dd1 has been giving her pep talks about putting it out of your mind until results day Grin
