Reeds 11 plus for 2015 entry?

Hi anyone out there have a ds planning to sit the reeds (Surrey) entrance test this weekend? Would be good to share experiences with others in same position... Look forward to hearing from you

Got the sports scholarship invite letter this morning which is great. Takes place on Monday 2nd. The entry test results are being posted on the 28th Jan.

Sorry! Would just be nice to hear back from one place at least - lots of girls have got theirs ... You already have a DS there right waiting? That must mean something? Plus with a hampton interview that's also a positive sign?!? ConfusedSmile

You would hope so, on both counts! Hampton iv was this morning and he seemed pretty happy with it. Back there on Fri for the all-rounder assessment and hopefully Reeds Mon for sports - they sent out letters re the sports last week, God knows why as it was no indication of anything.
Parents evening at Reeds tomorrow eve. Shock

Good luck! Great you have been called back for both... All the best with the scholarship assessments! Parents evening night that letters have gone out! If there is any info you can glean on numbers (love doing the stats I do!!) let us know but sure you have other things to discuss!! Isn't it a bit weird that sports schol is after letters have gone out? I guess you find out if you have a place and then any level of scholarship afterwards? If you got sports at both, which are you leaning towards out of interest? Have you gone for any other schools?

It's very bizarre how they sent the letter out re sports skol on Mon 2nd when they did - received last Sat. At first I thought oh so he has a place then. But it does caveat in the letter that attendance next Mon depends on the result this week. But you still think yeah but they wouldn't send this out if he didn't have a place surely? But yes they have, as it has gone to all who applied for one. So I think it is very ill-timed.

Leaning towards Hampton as it's the right school for DS2. Football at Hampton swings it for him!

But let's see if there is a choice in the end or anything at all! Rejected by the other two which were fall backs.

Very bizarre! I do appreciate not having to wait til 12 feb though... But a strange situation where you get a place but don't know what level if any of schol there will be... Or you get a date for a schol test when you or others assigned for that day won't be there as they didn't pass the exam?

Indeed. Very poor timing sending out that letter. Must admit our (and a friends) initial reaction was that this must mean they have a place otherwise they wouldn't send this out... but that's not the case. Hmm Hmm

1.45pm the latest post ever that we have received. Delighted to say he has an offer of a place.

Busy few days ahead now, scholarship assessments at Hampton tomorrow and Reeds on Monday!

Thanks. At least the 13th will feel a bit more comfortable now as I don't mind too much what happens, though do prefer Hampton. It will be up to him to decide if he gets an offer from them too.

Impressed at parents eve with the extra sessions they are putting on at lunchtimes, after school and weekends to help boys improve their forthcoming GCSE grades.

My son didn't get an offer but reached the required level apparently so has been put on the reserve list. Does anyone have any idea how much movement there tends to be and what kind of chance we have of an offer?
We already have another offer so not the be all and end all but would be good to have a choice. Plus we love Reed's.

Sorry don't know how they are playing the offers game etc. Used to offer up to 2x number of places.

That's good to know... Secretly I thought DS was in with a good chance of an academic scholarship but it wasn't to be... He does lots of sports but not county level enough to go for a sports scholarship and coming from state primary doesn't really gear you up I don't think for all the arts/music/sports scholarship possibilities. This means no schol for us and Reeds is more expensive than hampton ... tbh if he gets a place at hampton we will probably take that. Hampton has also always been the school which just seemed to say all the right things as well as being more academic of the two which should suit DS the best... But we will see! Saying all that we would be very happy with reeds, DS loved the new future tech building and all the tennis courts! Good to hear what you say about the gcse's as well!

Flower, we are in the same situation. Did not get an offer for DS but on the reserve list as he reached "the required standard". I understand the drop out rate is high (from previous years posts), but not sure.... Would be good to know what the chances are for an offer in March. Here's hoping!
