Is anyone else fed up with GCSE's and the stress they create? Thought I would start a support thread for the following few months. Mocks start next week at my dd3's school.

Omg. Dd has an outright offer from the selective academy. Had to share it with you lot SmileSmileSmile

HSMMaCM · 21/03/2015 19:48

Congrats to dingit's DD

HSMMaCM · 21/03/2015 19:53

Prom dress shopping tomorrow.

dingit · 21/03/2015 19:59

Good luck with that. Dd has hers, thank The Lord. ( smug smileyWink)

auntpetunia · 21/03/2015 20:26

Well done dingit DD brilliant news, take a bit of the pressure off as well. so glad DS is just staying at school. good luck prom dress shopping!

LynetteScavo · 21/03/2015 21:58

DSs geography coursework has been externally moderated. He's gone up a grade. DS looked pleased as punch, and even let DH hug him. Grin I see light at the end of the tunnel!

The bloody lamp for DT is still not finished. I'm not sure it ever will be....

Littleham · 21/03/2015 22:38

My dd is still doing music composition. Will she ever finish it? A bit like your lamp Lynette

Not one, but two prom dresses to buy. Crown Crown

Good news dingit!

Well done dingits DD

Shock to poor auntp's DS with more mocks just before the real thing - is it all subjects? And high-five for getting his phone/computer!

DD seems to be on-track to finish her CA's before Easter - "just" French and English speaking and Part 2 of her Biology ISA retake to go I think.
She hasn't mentioned buying a prom dress yet, but is sounding like she might go. No rush anyway - it's 3 months away!

Am so looking forward to Easter, but DD will be in school every day except Easter Sunday!

dingit · 22/03/2015 08:24

That's a lot of intervention Big Tilly. I'm surprised the teachers are giving up their Easter weekend. DD is in for about 4 out of 5 days ( no maths for her), and going to Paris next weekend with school.

I hope someone starts a new thread, I think we are going to need it.

bigTillyMint · 22/03/2015 09:03

I know dingit! DD says the teachers get paid, but even so it's a huge giving of their time.
Actually, the Saturday seems to be free too, but as there are usually revision sessions on Saturdays, I just presumed they would be on then too. DD won't be going in this Saturday anyway as we are going to watch my DGodD (who is one of her besties) in the National U16 hockey finals!

And yes to a new thread!

Fairenuff · 22/03/2015 12:16

My ds is making something arty out of wicker so we're in the 'lamp' and the 'music composition' waiting game too Grin

auntp I had a similar battle with my ds who does now seem to have buckled down. I took all the electricals out of his room during his supposed 'revision' time and he actually got some books out Shock

I think getting his prom outfit will be much easier than dd's two years ago but at the rate he is growing I'm not rushing into it.

Congrats to your dd dingit, great news Smile

SugarPlumTree · 22/03/2015 17:58

Great news Dingit Smile

More mocks here Mon - Wed. So far today the mock timetable went missing as did clear pencil case and contents. All mow found and there are 3 copies of the timetable. Poor DD has a cold.

HSMMaCM · 22/03/2015 19:48

Got a prom dress drama essay to work on this evening.

TeenAndTween · 22/03/2015 20:17

Congrats Dingit.

Glad you got prom dress HSM , hope it didn't break the bank!
DD's is being altered (shortened as too long, and 'blinged up').

DD also has 'second mocks' tomorrow for Maths and English. We did a whistle stop tour of maths today - she couldn't do any of it first time through. Presumably it will be better tomorrow. The English still proving tricky, even with extra time. Just hope it is better than mock1.

bigTillyMint · 22/03/2015 21:53

What are their prom dresses like?

Good luck to those poor mock - takers. It's full - on isn't it?

TeenAndTween · 22/03/2015 22:17

That's a gorgeous dress. My DS is going to his Prom (DS1 didn't, so I was denied seeing him all poshed up!). We are off suit shopping soon! Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 22/03/2015 23:42

DD spent most of today working on her second German speaking CA which is next week - we left her to it as she didn't want an audience. Also some physics for the ISA. At least she got out in the sunshine yesterday doing her volunteering.

Glad to hear good news on dingits DD's place, prom clothes and that grog grade moderated up. Smile

SugarPlumTree · 23/03/2015 05:42

That is a lovely dress. We're struggling a bit to find something for DD, thought we might do a shopping trip in the holidays.

She is still full of a cold which isn't ideal for mocks. She has her Japanese speaking exam this week too. Mum is moving to the Dementia unit today and I have woken easy feeling a bit an curious for both DD and Mum. I hope it goes well for both of them.

bigTillyMint · 23/03/2015 06:09

T&T, that is a really lovely dress.

SugarPlum, hope all goes well for your DD and DM today. I too have woken early - worrying about DM who is clearly getting more and more confused - worried about what the future holds.

SugarPlumTree · 23/03/2015 06:18

Thanks BTM, have some Brew. I need one but waiting for house to warm up a bit first. I'm sorry about your Mum and totally get your worry. It feels a bit much whilst trying to get the DD's through exams doesn't it .

bigTillyMint · 23/03/2015 06:54

Yep - when I spoke to her yesterday, she was saying that I was only coming up for hardly any time (2 nights) Well the last time she told me at least twice that it would be better when we had gone as she could get back to normal and we were only there for 2 nights. So as DH has to go to his parents too, I do need to be back for DD!

HSMMaCM · 23/03/2015 07:25

DD's prom dress

dingit · 23/03/2015 07:34

Just logged on to full site to see that. It's lovely, and I love the colour. Dd would look lovely in pink, but has refused it since about 8. Hers is bright red, which I'm surprised at, as she will stand out from the crowd, which she hates!
On that note, she had a meltdown last night, through nerves doing her spoken English exam today, even though we pointed out she sailed through her French one!

bigTillyMint · 23/03/2015 07:51

Oooh, lovely HSMM!

I'm not sure what DD has in mind, if anything?
