Is anyone else fed up with GCSE's and the stress they create? Thought I would start a support thread for the following few months. Mocks start next week at my dd3's school.

Lovely HSM. It's nice to have them bought isn't it?

DD has second maths mock exam today.
At breakfast she looked at me as if she had never heard of sin cos and tan before. Sad (We only went through it yesterday ...)

SugarPlumTree · 23/03/2015 12:27

Lovely dress HSM. Very jealous that you have it sorted, we are still looking. Not easy as DD pretty tiny with not a lot of chest so need to find a flattering style. She's going on about getting her hair dip dyed purple, I practice my impassive face.

auntpetunia · 23/03/2015 17:15

Just logged onto full site to see those gorgeous dresses, both stunning. have no idea how to put pics on so will just say ds 's suite is deep plum and gorgeous.Grin and very in the mod style which is his style.

he's got a good routine for revising now, he reads up for and hour before school and then does a past paper when he comes home, it does seem to be revising. His mocks next week are only English maths and rs.

have just counted up he has 24 exams starting 11th May and finishing on 19th June.

Littleham · 23/03/2015 18:22

Lovely dresses.

Asked my dd about a revision timetable as there wasn't one up on her wall. I got a very old fashioned look and she showed me her timetable on her ipod. She put her exams into the ipod and it produced a timetable for her. It has set her two hours of Religious Studies tonight!!! Let's hope it actually happens.

I am officially a dinosaur. Dragon

Lovely dresses (couldn't see them last night on my iPod) but makes me glad DD decided not to go to her prom this time around. Would have been more stress than the exams I think!

She's got her list of mocks results now - all pretty much on target (albeit quite a few on the lower half of the A/B type prediction) so we're pleased with that.

bigTillyMint · 23/03/2015 19:19

Well done Errol's DD!

My DD got a conditional offer from her first choice sixth form. There is no space for slacking!

AuntP, I think that puts your DS into 3rd place with the most written examsGrin Sounds like he's got it all in hand and his suit sounds sharp!

auntpetunia · 23/03/2015 20:31

Worked it out! The suit

Found you all again!

DD2 has 19 papers starting with Art at the end of next month and finishing on 17th June. Pretty light workload by the numbers on this thread Grin

She's getting on very well with her science tutor which is a good job as her last remaining science teacher leaves at Easter Hmm

Good news today though - her geography coursework has been graded as "A" - I'm not sure if it has to be externally moderated though. It's a huge relief as it isn't her favourite subject by a long way

bigTillyMint · 24/03/2015 07:46

The suit looks great Auntp!

Well done Woollybacks DDSmile

ThatIsNachoCheese · 24/03/2015 07:54

Totally marking my place. Feel like my dd does no revision at all. She seems to think now she has done her mocks that's it? Shock

SugarPlumTree · 24/03/2015 09:42

That looks very cool Auntpetunia. Excellent news about the Geography Woolybacks.

Thatisnachos does thd school run revision sessions at all?

Littleham, could you ask your DD the name of that App?

Don't all pass out in shock but DD had a Maths mock and came out sayjng she feels it went quite well and is hopeful of a D. Given she had an F during the last mock that would be a big improvement and leave a bit of hope that she can pull off a C.

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/03/2015 10:06

Brilliant news on the maths Sugar I think maths is the most demoralising subject if it doesn't "click" - in most other subjects it is just accepted that you can walk away from it if you don't do well but children are expected to plug away at maths.

Nacho DD2 has a fabulous colour coded revision timetable and spends most evenings in her room - however to hear her talk you would think all she is doing is revising for a GCSE in 'The Random Shite Spouted by the Kardashians' (A* grade already achieved)

Lovely prom outfit pictures. DD2 can't make up her mind. We bought one and have sold it on as she hated it.

TeenAndTween · 24/03/2015 12:06

I'm not doing a revision timetable for DD until Easter. What with Drama, CAs and extra English practice she has no real time for any other revision, and they are doing things in school so waiting to see what has been covered.
The plan is that at start of the holidays we will set 'goals' for end of holidays and schedule then.
Just ordered poem anthology & revision guides off Amazon.

Lovely suit AuntP - bet he looks very dashing.

bigTillyMint · 24/03/2015 16:43

Great news SugarPlum.

Woollyback, I think DD is revising for similar GCSE's.

DD has a revision timetable on the wall, but there doesn't seem to be much on it!

ErrolTheDragon · 24/03/2015 16:56

I'm not going to interfere in however DD wants to revise as she seems to be getting on with it pretty well. Perhaps it helps that she prefers Cardassians to Kardashians and gets her doses of that down in the living room with us (we're working through the boxed sets of Deep Space Nine... whenever I hear 'kardashian' I get a mental image of a greyish person with a strange neck. Grin)

ErrolTheDragon · 24/03/2015 16:58

Oh, sugarplum - so nice to hear that your DD is feeling more positive about the maths. Fingers crossed she gets an encouraging result.
