what does your state school have?
We have girls- school summer dress with white socks or flesh coloured tights + blazer (a bit weird, if it is hot enough for a summer dress why would you wear a blazer?)
Boys - no summer option- long trousers shirt, tie, blazer

State secondary. No summer uniform and all students have to wear ties, woolen jumpers, and blazers. Girls have to wear thick tights year round. Students have to wait for permission to be given before removing jumpers and blazers, and it has not been offered yet this year. My daughter was quite hot yesterday wearing her jumper and blazer all day in the heat we've been having.

At my DSs' state comp, grey, v-necked jumpers are always optional. In the summer term boys or girls can wear a school logoed blue polo shirt if they want, no blazer or tie allowed with polo shirt, jumper still optional. In autumn, winter or spring, shirt, tie and blazer compulsory.

Reading these and feeling grateful that my children attend a school (overseas international school) that has no uniform.
Today was 22 degrees and ds 2 chose checked shorts and a navy T-shirt with white ankle socks and trainers.
His teenage brother was in shorts too ????
Feel really sorry for all your kids in hot clothes in hot classrooms. ??????

gosh reading this makes me realise how lucky we are here with sweatshirt over a white polo shirt. when it gets hot they remove the sweatshirt.

some of these stories are just ridiculous!!

DD in winter blouse and jumper (not allowed to remove jumper). Any girls or boys wearing a shirt must wear a tie.

Summer - polo shirt, no jumper.

Only trouble is, she gets the bus at 7am and has to choose to be freezing in the morning or boiling at school

What are the teachers wearing in these schools where children have to wear jumpers, blazers and thick tights in 20 odd degrees?

HSMMaCM · 25/05/2014 07:59

In DDs school if the headmaster takes his jacket off, the kids can remove their jumpers. He never takes it off.

Most of the female teachers wear short sleeve blouses or summer dresses. Then at the end of a lesson they'll say something like "oh, you must be hot in your jumpers and blazers, I didn't realize because I'm in short sleeves, I should have given permission to remove them."
