Waiting for DS1's Gcses results on 22nd of August. He did really well last year but, all the talk of moving grade boundaries has got me worried. Fingers are very tightly crossed for maths as this is the subject he struggles with most.

I'm going to go and listen to some boring podcasts in bed. Maybe that will switch my brain off.

Hope you all sleep well eventually Smile

Cant believe we won't get results till at least 11am.

TheHumancatapult · 22/08/2013 04:37

Circular 11 amShock itd 9am here

TheHumancatapult · 22/08/2013 04:40

Yup cant believe they moved bloody goal posts surely that means lots of appeals and imagine tricky for markers to

AntoinetteCosway · 22/08/2013 06:46

Good luck to everyone's DC for today. I've got a class and several tutees getting results today and I'm terrified so I hope they slept better than I did!

sparklingstars · 22/08/2013 06:52

good luck everybody, no results due in this house but thinking of everybody, esp. my friend's DD who needs the grade for a retake to see if she has got into uni.

englishteacher78 · 22/08/2013 06:58

Schools stagger results time (I assume so the newspapers can get their patronising shots of happy, pretty girls jumping) in most areas. As an English teacher I'm always really nervous for GCSE results. Even before all the 'fiddling' we used to have regular issues with the standard of marking. If anyone does get any surprises today don't feel that you can't appeal. A student who's just left our sixth form with a good set of A levels only got his place (selective) through an English re-mark.
Good luck to all.

boschy · 22/08/2013 07:05

yuk, feel sick. all the exam results stuff on the news is about the grade boundaries... 10.30 for us. fingers crossed everyone.

circular · 22/08/2013 07:18

Englishteacher sounds about right. school website showing the classic jumping picture for A level results. But there are some pretty boys in it too.

Boschy Feeling sick here too, no sleep. Glad DD slept well.
Trying to avoid the press for now.

MrsBartlet · 22/08/2013 07:25

Morning everyone. Also, avoiding the new here at the moment. Nearly there now!

Allfurcoatandnoknickers · 22/08/2013 07:35

Bought son a choc cake which he can devour singlehandedly whatever his results are. He's one of the youngest in his year and dyslexic, so it's been an uphill struggle to this moment.
He's bringing the envelope home to open here so he doesn't have to do itin front of his very capable friends.....

Horsemad · 22/08/2013 07:35

Morning All! Good Luck for later.

Feeling very apprehensive Sad DS still sleeping! Grin

sparklingstars · 22/08/2013 07:46

Good luck Allfurcoat and well done to your DS for all of his hard work and efforts.

RussiansOnTheSpree · 22/08/2013 07:49

DD1 has been woken. But the only sound heard from her room has been the customary 'morning growl'. However to be fair that's the only sound I've made too. Similarly for Dd2 and DS.

We are not a family of larks.

It is entirely possible that DD2 will be driving to the school in her pijamas. But she doesn't have to get out of the car so, you know, if that's what keeps her quiet.....

I don't feel Good about today At All.

Shanghaidiva · 22/08/2013 07:51

Got ds's result for igcse mandarin. He got a B with 84 marks out of 100. He is a bit disappointed, as thought he would get an A. Am very proud of him.
Good luck to everyone!

RussiansOnTheSpree · 22/08/2013 07:52

That's an excellent score. Well done to him. But I can understand your and his concern - in what sane word is 84% not an A?

alistron1 · 22/08/2013 07:56

Morning. DD1 has done her paper round. She's feeling a tad grumpy ;)

littlemisswise · 22/08/2013 08:00

Morning DS2 is awake, not in a good mood though! Mornings and teenagers don't mix in my house!Wink

Good luck everyone.Smile

Well done to your DS Shanghai.

muddymarvellousdarling · 22/08/2013 08:00

We will be dropping DS2 at school around 9am to get his GCSE results.
He already has 3 GCSE under his belt, so only needs another 2 to get into sixth form.
I'm just so nervous for him. He's been awake most of the night going in and out of the bathroom. Sad

I hope everyone else's. DC get what they need.

I'm off to get sorted now DD has finished her shower.

Shanghaidiva · 22/08/2013 08:05

Russians
Not sure there is anything sane about the education system anymore!
Think when I took O level (am old) 84% would have been an A. Not telling DS that though.

Gunznroses · 22/08/2013 08:09

So what is the score to get an A and an A* ? Confused does anyone know? Do you think he could get his paper remarked as it sounds so close. I'd be annoyed too.

Good luck to everyone by the way!

TheHumancatapult · 22/08/2013 08:10

Well done s hang ds

Ds is nervous he missed lot of year 10 due to being poorly

Way 6th form done here .means not only does he need at least B grade in ones wants take A levels .its point scored so needs at least 9 a~c grades

lilibet · 22/08/2013 08:12

I made the mistake of listening to the news. I feel sick and am quite teary but I'm not letting him see. This is my third and last time and by far the worst.

love to all parents and dc's.

MABS · 22/08/2013 08:14

good luck all
