I suspect hand and twins will instantly out me tomorrow Grin
Yes mine will be in boardshorts- more Eric the eel than Ian Thorpe in the pool

basildonbond · 26/08/2013 08:25

your ds's can count themselves lucky - when ds started the regulation school swimmers were those teeny-tiny speedos - ds is a 'proper' swimmer and even he nearly died of embarrassment! they'll have to wear the jammers for school lessons but apparently the unwritten law of swimwear dictates that you only wear them by choice if you can swim really well...

good luck for this week - the first half term is a bit full-on and your dc will be exhausted by half term but the vast majority get used to it v soon

TweenageAngst · 27/08/2013 17:02

Happy, exhausted boys a good day was had and new friends being made, hope everyone else had as much fun.

Hecticmumof4 · 27/08/2013 17:27

woohooo! Induction day done and one very happy DS!!

Somelikeithott · 27/08/2013 19:03

Awesome! Is how DS described his day.

FatalFlowerGarden · 27/08/2013 21:54

Ds had a great day, unfortunately has come home streaming with cold and feeling a bit sorry for himself! Hopefully he'll be fine after a good night's sleep. He loved swimming and the music induction too.

Hecticmumof4 · 28/08/2013 08:42

DS still awake at 10:30!!! AND he had more activities after the Induction Day
he just couldn't settle as I think he was on a high!

Hecticmumof4 · 28/08/2013 12:53

DS was on a high last night and couldnt sleep - still awake at 10:30 even after further activities
He did football, cricket, music and swimming
Anyone figured out the forms yet? And, how many in Lower First ( getting used to this form ( vs class)talk!) in total?

FatalFlowerGarden · 28/08/2013 14:57

I think there are about 60 in the Lower First altogether - 3 forms of ?20. This is only going by the numbers on the induction days list though - 52 boys listed, assuming a small number aren't attending, etc...

Ds said something about them choosing instruments and him being put down as a chorister in the music induction?? Have to say I found that most amusing...Grin

Croydonmumtods · 28/08/2013 15:04

Ds had a great day yesterday and was told he'd be in the choir but not choristers! He really enjoyed the music and they suggested he play the oboe (small and portable) but he said he wanted to do cello (not so small and portable) should have had a word with him first! All very exciting and all going well so far. Anyone else in group 1?

FatalFlowerGarden · 28/08/2013 15:10

Haha at cello - lovely instrument but oboe definitely a bit more portable! Ds muttered something about oboe too, and ???viola? It's all a bit of a mystery to me tbh but the main thing is they're enjoying all these new experiences!

Somelikeithott · 28/08/2013 15:17

I think there might be 4 forms this year ( not sure). Someone said to me that each induction group is made of 2 forms each. With the teachers' initials at the end of the lettering on the top of the groups lists. Hope this makes sense!!!

So L1 means lower first and the letters after L1 are the form teachers'. But the actual group list is in alphabetical order, so can't tell who the form teachers are yet for the individual boys.

Not all the boys are attending, I know a 2 or so, who are on holiday.

Fatal, hope your D'S is better today. DS was on a high going in today again. Almost pick-up time, let's see what joys we get from them today.

Somelikeithott · 28/08/2013 15:20

Lol. Croydonmum! You may need to negotiate with DS

OP posts:
FatalFlowerGarden · 28/08/2013 16:45

Thanks hott - ds feeling much better today, thank goodness; would have been a shame to have missed any of this! He came out grinning and proudly brandishing a picture of a bird he'd drawn in art...

The induction list does look as if it's made up of only three forms, unless two teachers have the same initials? The parking permit arrived yesterday and the envelope had ds's form on it (or what I assume was his form, at least!) Anyway am sure all will become clearer after Friday. Are we going to have a secret handshake? Wink

TweenageAngst · 28/08/2013 17:11

If you shake my hand you will recognise me instantly. DT1 said he had played the fog horn which I guess is the French horn...That will be fun, DT2 could not remember what he played but said it sounded horrible. They are rather full of themselves this pm

Croydonmumtods · 28/08/2013 18:12

fatal just checked the envelope and you are right- I never even noticed. Looks like ds in L1PAR. Anyone else in there with him??

FatalFlowerGarden · 28/08/2013 18:25

Yes, ds is in L1PAR too!

Croydonmumtods · 28/08/2013 18:43

Fantastic at least there'll be two of them. On Friday I'll be the one with bleeding fingers from sewing on labels!

TweenageAngst · 28/08/2013 19:24

I have one in L1KGM and one in L1LG

TCofB · 28/08/2013 19:44

My DS in L1LG (Laura Gomersall) - think KGM is Ms Mund (they did mention them all at the Lake Garda evening but can't remember which form tutor PAR is initial for.

TweenageAngst · 28/08/2013 19:50

Does anyone have any tips etc regarding Lake Garda as neither DH or myself were able to go to the info evening. One thing a previous parent said was a pillow/blanket for the bus trip.

Somelikeithott · 28/08/2013 20:43

Yaayyy Croydonmum, L1PAR here too. Fatal, you've got great attention to detail, I'm impressed. Didn't even notice that information on the envelope, just taken a look now. Looks like you are correct about there being 3 forms as well, looks like L1PAR is split between the 2 groups. When it was mentioned to me yesterday, I made a mental note to have a look last night, but forgot.

Tweenage, does that meant you have 2 parking permits??? I wonder how much they go for on the school black market, hmmmmmm?????? ( covers mouth in shame).

OP posts:
Somelikeithott · 28/08/2013 21:24

Tweenage, Lake Garda Tips I've heard apart from pillows & blanket, are disposable cameras, take old clothing, you don't mind losing ( in case they don't come back with DS), smart trousers for supper, as they eat in a restaurant, so no shorts etc. Apart from 60 euros to hand in on Friday, take 10 euros on the trip, so they can buy breakfast when they stop over on the way there.

Some of this may be in formal letter from school, all the information has started to merge into one for me!

burntoutdad · 29/08/2013 17:53

Hott it may have been me you were talking to yesterday Wink assuming you had info on forms from a male.
Ds also L1PAR! He met him today [he is fencing and history teacher] and said he was really nice. So far pleased all round Smile

Croydonmumtods · 29/08/2013 18:59

fatal, burnt and hott how bizarre all out ds's are in the same class! Really looking forward to tomorrow. burnt any chance your son is a very good footballer who used to play for s and now plays for c and c academy?? Long shot I know but would satisfy my curiosity!
