Universities certainly used to get them first - same day but first thing, while most schools in England, anyway, get them at 6ish then fanny about with them for a couple of hours (mine were done up in some bizarre, unneccessary origami with a couple of official-looking forms about the old girls' association and "how to contribute to the new astroturf" ffs
- not what you need in the envelope that tells you whether your plans for the next phase of your life is on track. They'd also managed to do a typed list of everyone in the year with all results from all exam boards BEFORE we were allowed in to collect them!) There was a group of early results on the local breakfast news though, so they were in the building by then!
My DB had to ring his uni as he got hisAAB in the wrong order(!) It was fine, but they'd blatently already seen his results and decided his fate before he even knew he had to call!
