I have a Colombian friend coming for Christmas Day and was going to build a hamper of typical Scottish foods. What would you have in yours? Struggling in particular with savoury.

Oatcakes, cheese, smoked venison, smoked salmon, Arbroath smokies, haggis, game pate, Baxter’s scotch broth or cockaleekie soup.

StellaMary · 04/12/2025 10:20

Whisky and Irn Bru.

StellaMary · 04/12/2025 10:21

And tunnocks tea cakes

Excellent ideas ladies, thanks. Keep them coming. I’m thinking of throwing in a Broons annual too, just for a laugh.

Dundee marmalade

TheSpottedZebra · 04/12/2025 10:38

Does it have to be stuff that doesn't need to be kept in the fridge, or is fresh/chilled stuff ok?

Heighheigh · 04/12/2025 10:46

Non-chilled would be easier, but there are many good cheese / seafood options so I might have to reconsider.

Tablet. Obviously sweet not savoury but definitely what I'd expect to find in a Scottish hamper.

RaraRachael · 04/12/2025 15:29

Tablet
Macaroon bars
Shortbread
Lorne sausage

DoAsYouWouldBeMumBy · 04/12/2025 18:43

These are lovely!

EvelynBeatrice · 04/12/2025 20:49

Borders chocolate gingers if not already mentioned and Tunnocks obviously. Agree re whisky and Irn Bru.

Does it have to be all food? What about toiletries? Eg nice candle. Scottish fine soaps is one company. Cashmere scarf/ gloves? Small cuddly toy highland cow Scottish scenery calendar.

EvelynBeatrice · 04/12/2025 20:55

Arran Aromatics perfume/ handcream

RaraRachael · 04/12/2025 20:59

Isle of Skye candle
Highland Soap Company stuff - especially their soaps, last for ever

BashfulClam · 04/12/2025 21:02

Tablet, tattie scones, oatcakes, tunnocks items, Irn Bru, whisky miniatures….

Heighheigh · 04/12/2025 21:36

Just tucking into a borders choc ginger now. Delicious! I think I might buy all the suggestions and keep most for me. Except the Lorne sausage obvs!
