England and Scotlands are football rivals and our house will be supporting Spain tonight. Nothing wrong with good natured football rivalry whether it is a local, league or country level.

That page is distasteful, and doesn't represent the rivalry in our household. We will be cheering Spain on, but will give England their dues if they play well and win.

I came here to start a similar thread. I am so embarrassed and disgusted by the National's front page. It's so anti English! Do Scottish people not go to Spain and eat fry ups and drink beer?
I see some journalists/writers who have worked with the National in the past have called this out on Twitter (X) and said they won't work with them again.

Of course they are, ability has absolutely nothing to do with rivalry and very different to being competitors. England are obviously the superior team.

Kilmarnock and Ayr United, St Mirren and Greenock Morton teams in different leagues but rivals because they are neighbouring towns/areas.

Countries are no different.

Have just driven into town, Stag and Garter pub at the bottom of Garscube Rd near St George's cross is bedecked in Spanish flags. 🙄

As I said upthread, I just find it funny. If you’re going to vent about your neighbours that’s not an especially unpleasant way to do it. And it is quite well done.

Anyway, I doubt that many English people could give a shit what The National has to say about anything, to be frank. I suspect that few Scots do either.

It’s not funny though, it’s really offensive and borderline racist with the pictures they’ve chosen. Definitely crossed a line.
