It’s taken me a day to calm down to be able to post this. The sheer incompetence. How can people vote these muppets in? Just how?!

Sometimes, in my wilder flights of fancy, when their incompetence is so.gross that it can't be accidental, I think the SNP must be in the pay of a foreign power hell bent on Scotland's destruction.

When you look at the percentage the home nations need to pay in comparison it is an utter disgrace, this shower of idiots, couldn't run a bath between them but expect us to believe they are capable of running a country.

Adding to the god awfulness of the situation, Scotland were suspended from applying for funds 5 times due to (among other reasons) “deficiencies in first-level management verification, audit trail” and “irregularities regarding eligibility of expenditure, rules on audit trail”.

From the article, 'There have been a total of 27 suspensions across the EU during the same period, meaning Scotland is responsible for 19 per cent of all such penalties.' So, responsible for almost 20% of all suspensions across the whole EU

It just shows Scotland to be staggeringly incompetent. We're making ourselves a laughing stock on an international stage.

How are the SNP going to twist this into their favour? £450 million = 7 new high schools, 13,000 nurse or teacher salaries for a year, around a million for each primary school in Scotland, 10 miles of dual carriageway on the A9... or a wastepaper bin for the new ferry.

Just picking up on this thread and interested to hear if anyone has heard the SNP's counterargument to this? Noticed John Swinney casually deflected the talking point as 'unsubstantiated' in the STV Scottish Leaders Debate yesterday. Wondering what their line on this is? And why doesn't this have the traction it should?

Wow. I've just caught up with this. I've long had the impression that SNP are incompetent but, just,wow.

This is absolutely infuriating! Why is more not being made of it in the press? Why are people not outraged?

There was a piece in Times today about it . Kate Forbes trying to defend herself as she was finance secretary. All waffle and made no sense . No one has challenged them on the irregular and murky audit trail the EU accused them of . It’s a National scandal and I wonder if it’s just so bad it’s too humiliating for them to be called out on it . Time the general public woke up to the fact that we are run by people promoted way beyond their competence.

It's not as simple as them just spending it though. It is a fund to which organisations have to apply. It seems very few did so much of the money went unallocated.

It also has to be co-financed with 50% match funding, which means another organisation has to match the amount being spent. It's not simply free money. I would guess this is why much of the cash was not spent.

Because the figures being reported are not like for like. There are significant sums of money that have been allocated to projects but not yet claimed.

The Scotish Parliament just published an update on this. Probably because of the recent media headlines.
