It’s taken me a day to calm down to be able to post this. The sheer incompetence. How can people vote these muppets in? Just how?!

Not a thing....
Scotland has been suspended from applying for the funding on five occasions. An EU report in 2015 said a suspension had taken place because of “deficiencies in first-level management verification, audit trail” and “irregularities regarding eligibility of expenditure, rules on audit trail”.

I'm sure Aaron95 will be along soon with some smoke and mirrors...

Not a thing ...

'There have been a total of 27 suspensions across the EU during the same period, meaning Scotland is responsible for 19 per cent of all such penalties. By contrast, England’s schemes have been praised for being “extremely successful in reaching those with multiple and complex barriers to work, and groups who were not engaging with, or who had not been successfully supported by, mainstream employment programmes”.

Evidence to the House of Commons Welsh affairs committee said that the “EU’s opinion is that the Welsh management of structural funds has been exemplary”. An analysis of Northern Ireland’s scheme found that it had “delivered consistently” and was “considered effective” in its management and governance.'

From the Times article in the OP. Bolds mine.

Kate Forbes was standing in for John Swinney at First Minister Questions today. She was challenged by Jackie Baillie who accused her of financial incompetence… Forbes was Finance Minister at the time. Forbes said there was “ no evidence “. !!

Jeez, so no attempt to actually say it was wrong, just that you can't prove it?

CoastalMummy · 06/06/2024 20:10

The reality is, if they’d been competent and spent the money, they wouldn’t have been able to consistently claim poverty. They have clearly made a political decision to throw struggling communities under the bus in order to achieve independence. I truly believe they are that Machiavellian.

For are party that consistently denounces austerity, they’ve sure as hell engaged in it themselves.

8misskitty8 · 06/06/2024 20:20

That could have been spent on support staff in schools. An area that is grossly underfunded. It’s a disgrace.

I think this is absolutely bang on. They need to keep people down so they can blame Westminster / England, don't they?

I honestly don’t think we can make excuses for them . They really are politically challenged . Second rate regional administrators. Devolution hasn’t worked with these poor deluded souls in charge .

Alyn Smith but forward something of a rebuttal in this 9 tweet thread https://x.com/AlynSmith/status/1797210911729406241
but it’s not totally convincing.

I've not read it but it's apparently a pack of lies and can be refuted using the scotgov own published data. I've not looked at that either though.

This guy is bad news even amongst the general incompetence and grifting of politicians and the SNP in particular. He's a sleekit cunt from the sturgeon factory of sleekit cuntness.

Unfortunately he's my MP and likely to be re-elected.
