For "parliamentary business" while Michael Matheson was on a family holiday in Morocco.

Such good value. And if you believe that it was all parliamentary emails etc rather than Netflix and YouTube you're as gullible as Humza Yousaf.

Also quite worrying that a Minister is too thick to disable roaming.

Is anyone else on this thread getting adverts for unlimited data usage? 😂

No but I am getting ads for Chromebooks - buy now, pay later.

How appropriate.

Yes - from Smarty 😂 (if only Mr Matheson had been more…)

I recently read about a court case where someone in a private company had been sacked for claiming lunch expenses for themself and their partner. It was even within the monetary limit but the company had discovered he wasn’t alone. Anyway he lost his job and the court case. Incidents like that seem so trivial compared to this case. Not only the crazy expense but letting your children have access to a government device.

Humza is such a bad politician. He always talks in such unreserved terms about people or issues when he either doesn’t know the full facts or is lying to cover them. Either way he should have some sense of self preservation. When you speak in such confident terms it doesn’t look good for you when the truth comes out. Don’t think he’s figured that out yet.

SirChenjins · 16/11/2023 21:51

That’s brilliant @Waitwhat23 😂

treadingonlego · 16/11/2023 22:52

The SNP is corrupt to the core and this is just further proof of that

Agreed.

Northernsouloldies · 16/11/2023 22:57

Blame the kids for watching the football is fucking priceless doesn't detract from the fact he still submitted an 11G claim for a week. With a bit of digging in all their expenses tabs be interesting to see how much was genuine.

DINGDONG23 · 17/11/2023 09:51

Going to be a great day for these kids at school

Stroopwaffels · 17/11/2023 10:56

I caught the tail end of a Radio Scotland phone in about this in the car this morning, general consensus was that he should go as he has lied through his teeth and was perfectly happy for the rest of us to pick up the £11k bill.

How is the lying sleekit weasel still in a job?

SirChenjins · 17/11/2023 12:49

Because Youseless would then need to admit to propping up a liar and a potential thief - and presumably fiddling expenses is seen as a perk of being in the SNP Govt, certainly nothing to resign over.

Edited

My post could apply to either of them, or actually most of them.... 😊

ThomasinaLivesHere · 18/11/2023 07:10

I’ve signed it although the description has some errors like where he was on holiday

marshmallowmix · 18/11/2023 09:49

Lying and tried to cover it up …he should be sacked.

It’s such a sorry state of affairs and don’t start me on Yousless he’s an utter joke.

Hopefully with him at the helm the SNP will sink they are a shower of shit to put it mildly !

As it is a change.org petition, they can edit it without affecting the signatories. Unless Change.org has changed their procedures, edits can include completely changing their position (eg from sack to do not sack)

BlueThursday · 18/11/2023 10:32

it stinks from start to finish:

not changing mobile provider when told to

still not changing provider when receiving a new phone

allowing a government device to be used as a hot spot for family. even if he didn’t “know” about the access during the holiday it must have either been used before and paired without the need of a password or the password was known to others

his kids watching football online (without him knowing) while he, an avid supporter, did not

submitting an £11k bill to parliament without thinking “hmm wonder what’s caused this” If only he was the user of the device and only for parliamentary purposes, as he told journalists

Useless giving him full backing and praising his integrity and character

backtowinter · 18/11/2023 14:31

His lies and denials are as bad as the "error"

Typical SNP rider of the gravy train

BigBoysDontCry · 18/11/2023 14:45

And also blaming the IT department for telling him to use the iPad hot-spot when no call was ever made.

It's not nice watching someone lose their job to be fair. However it never should have come to this and he cynically tried to drop everyone in it so he's not fit for public office.

Stroopwaffels · 18/11/2023 14:48

It’s the same with them all. Passing the buck. No shame.

So they didn’t tell him to hotspot his phone from his iPad? Though that seemed a flimsy excuse; ‘IT department said I should hotspot from my iPad to make essential work calls, so naturally I took it to mean letting my whole family hotspot from my government device for the duration of my holiday.’

Stroopwaffels · 18/11/2023 15:22

It's not just the roaming charges. Had he immediately recognised what had happened, bollocked the kids, apologised to everyone in the IT department and paid the money, he would not have been in the newspapers at all. The problem is that he:

  1. Didn't update SIM/software when told to do so
  2. Ignored requirement to tell IT when taking devices outside the UK
  3. Lied about being on "parliamentary business"
  4. Only agreed to pay back the money when challenged
  5. Lied about it again
  6. Only came clean when forced to do so.

I find it very hard to believe that his sons watched a number of football games over the course of a family holiday and he wasn’t watching too?!!! Seems highly unlikely that they would be sitting quietly on their devices watching football using his government iPad as a hit spot and he would have no idea???!!! Really???!!!

SaffronSpice · 18/11/2023 20:29

mummywithtwokidsplusdog you forget how gullible the SNP thinks voters are.

Northernsouloldies · 18/11/2023 21:35

The snp are as corrupt as their counterparts down south.
