Really surprised there isn't already a thread on this!

Will be really interesting to see the result.

Twitter seems to think the SNP will lose, it's just a matter of by how much.

Any bets?

🤭

Shame Michael shanks doesn't know what a woman is but I'll take that result anyway with the SNP getting absolutely humped.

Tories lost their deposit 😀

HerculesTheBercules · 06/10/2023 06:51

Very interesting result - the tide has turned.

PurpleBrenda · 06/10/2023 07:44

Hallelujah!!

PictureFrameWindow · 06/10/2023 07:44

That was a cheering result!

pharmachameleon · 06/10/2023 07:58

Fanbloodytastic!

MidnightOnceMore · 06/10/2023 08:04

Think both the SNP and the Tories will be really worried by the size of the swing. This suggests there could be a big change across the Scottish map at the next GE.

Stroopwaffels · 06/10/2023 08:09

I am a floating voter - I have voted Labour, Conservative and Lib Dem in my time. But never ever SNP.

Delighted to see this result, hopefully this will send the SNP back to being a fringe group who are just a bit of a minor annoyance rather than having incompetents running the country.

Rainbowshit · 06/10/2023 08:37

Do we think the SNP will reflect on the reasons for their vote collapsing? 🤔

Stroopwaffels · 06/10/2023 08:38

Noooooo! Don't be daft.

Westfacing · 06/10/2023 09:00

Just a couple of years' ago the SNP and Nicola Sturgeon were riding high - how things change.

I used to admire NS and think she was so sensible and no-nonsense, compared to Boris Johnson. But I don't live in Scotland, so just my observations.

Nah. Apparently the excuses are: turnout was low so their voters all stayed home (maybe want to find out why???), Tory voters all voted for Labour (did they, aye?).

The SNP party conference is going to be a shitshow 😁😁😁😁😁

Using Johnson as a bar allowed Sturgeon to coast by.

She was always appalling.

Stroopwaffels · 06/10/2023 09:05

But it's not thought @MrsFinkelstein because dissent and disagreement is not allowed. It'll all be them celebrating how marvellous they are, how awful Labour and the Tories are, and coming up with ridiculous policies.

They don’t need to reflect=it’s Westminsters fault!

and hahahahahahahahahahahahaha hell mend them

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 06/10/2023 09:05

Interesting result! The tide is turning!

SomeCatFromJapan · 06/10/2023 09:30

This is my constituency and I had Michael Shanks at my door a few months ago canvassing support for the by-election.
It's a pity he's TWAW but so is Katy Loudon.

I did find him personable, clearly intelligent and friendly, and I'm delighted that the tide is turning against the SNP.

Rainbowshit · 06/10/2023 09:54

I'm really praying this is the end of the constitutional divide in voting patterns where the SNP only win because of the split of "no voters".

Did you raise gender issues with him?

It'll take a lot more results like that to do that. Even then, you'll never be able to fully close the door on that one.

Scotland's politics has been Ulsterised for about 15 years now.

Rainbowshit · 06/10/2023 10:00

Yeah you're probably right. I'd be satisfied with a balance that represents the fact that Indy supporters are not the majority.

Best we can hope for.

United Ireland and IndyRef2 supporters have been thinking together they'll break the Union. Both are finding otherwise despite the incorrect focus of the media, especially on the united Ireland thing.

Neither are happening any time soon.

BigBoysDontCry · 06/10/2023 10:16

I don't support labour stance on TWAW, but I'd vote for them tactically to get the SNP out every time.

I'll just enjoy the day thinking about the SNP greetin into their porridge.

Tallpaulwho · 06/10/2023 10:28

I'm delighted to see the SNP routed, but every time I see Michael Shanks mentioned I do a double take, as it's the same name of an actor. He is most famous for Stargate SG-1. I hope the Go'auld have nothing to do with this election. 😜

BigBoysDontCry · 06/10/2023 10:36

Not quite sure it's sending the "message to Westminster" that Humza wanted... 😂😂

He also said he would take responsibility for the result... #resignhumza?
