Really surprised there isn't already a thread on this!

Will be really interesting to see the result.

Twitter seems to think the SNP will lose, it's just a matter of by how much.

Any bets?

Did you raise gender issues with him?

I didn't as we got onto Brexit.

BigBoysDontCry · 06/10/2023 11:12

Do you think they still want to treat the GE as a defacto referendum or will they keep spinning this in order to get more votes?

SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything · 06/10/2023 11:19

Nice news to wake up to. Roll on the General election.

treadingonlego · 06/10/2023 16:58

hopefully this will send the SNP back to being a fringe group who are just a bit of a minor annoyance

Here's hoping!

Great to see such a swing away from SNP. I must say though, I was surprised the Tory candidate did so badly. I read an article on him somewhere, he is/was a Councilor in Shettleston and he seems to really want to make a difference. I was quite impressed by what I read about him. Hopefully the Labour winner does a good job though.

Waitwhat23 · 06/10/2023 22:26

Katy Louden blocked just about everyone so I can't say I'm surprised that women in particular didn't vote for her.

Will the SNP reflect on why they got gubbed? No. They'll blame anyone and everyone else.

As a pp said, hell mend them.

I suspect most of the Tory supporters agreed to vote labour on this occasion to oust the SNP.

Brilliant result, glad the tide has turned on SNP.

Edinburgal · 07/10/2023 09:06

@Waitwhat23 good point, id forgotten that. Although how anyone can vote Labour in Scotland after they voted through the GRR bill, il never know. Never again for me.

Do we think the SNP will reflect on the reasons for their vote collapsing? 🤔

of course they wont!! They will blame it on westminster, like they do everything else!!!

annabelindajane · 07/10/2023 10:51

It’s the 8399 that voted SNP that bothers me . What exactly were they thinking? Clearly all love the green gender stuff and no understanding of all the failed policies .

Presumably Scottish independence is a high priority for them.

It's logical to not vote for a unionist party if you're not a unionist.

Carolwithane · 07/10/2023 15:56

I worked at one of the polling stations in Hamilton, less than 20% turnout which is depressing 😕

Giantcausewayside · 07/10/2023 16:46

I sincerely hope this swing away from independence parties is replicated at the GE. I am feeling cautious though as there were the well known local issues at play here, which I think means that the result would not necessarily be replicated country wide. Here’s hoping though!
