Harris and? Baby name help please!

We already have an almost 4 year old DS called Harris. We’re Scottish.. I got lots of negative comments about his name on here (presumably from those down south who hadn’t heard of it).

I’m 37 weeks with baby number 2. We don’t know what we’re having yet and have a few possible boy options (mainly because they were on our list last time) but really nothing for a girl! I’d like if it tied in with the Scottish theme (doesn’t have to) but not the obvious other island names ideally! Thanks for any suggestions 👏🏼

I like Morvern but I suppose it's a bit geographic. I also like Mirren.

Harris is a beautiful name,I also love the name Baxter, but really I think you've got to work around the surname ,Brodie is another favourite of mine

I like Isla for a girl, but if you were outside and shouted 'Isla, Harris' you might get some looks...
Elspbeth is lovely and I like Torin for a boy, and Rowan too, which is quite unisex

weegiemum · 25/04/2023 21:18

Can I just say I love the name Harris. I lived in Harris for 10 years, still have a house there and we will retire there, it's the most beautiful place in the world.

My dc are Gaelic speakers, some girls names are

Eilidh
Iona
Mirin
Morven

Skye
Isla (though very popular)

@weegiemum oh how lovely 😍 The girls ones are hard, I think especially because we’ve gone for a popular name for the first one, I don’t like the girls popular choices the same but also don’t want to go too random and not tie in at all

I do like Lewis but we’d never use it as I think it’s just too much of an obvious choice!
