It’s so cold. Our house is 15 degrees, less at night and dh is still refusing to put the heating on till at least November. We have wee ones and even with loads of layers, I wfh and I’m freeeezing! His fam down south aren’t putting theirs on till Jan 🙄 and he’s trying to compete. But we stay in Scotland…

I put it on 4 days ago and it packed in 2 days later. The engineer came out the next day and fixed it thankfully. It’s been on today. I am in the north of Scotland and it’s cold. Though it’s set lower than previous years so will trigger to go if once the bedrooms drop below 17

Posters who set your house to 20oC, does that mean you are comfortable wearing short sleeves all winter? Have you thought about setting to 18.5 or 19oC and putting a jumper or cardi on?
Our house is normally set to 17.5 over winter but going to try 16 this winter and log fire on as much as possible.

My thermostat is in the living room and set to 20.5 this winter it’s normally 23 in previous years. My upstairs is always 3 degrees colder minimum. I have asthma as does one of the kids so any lower sets it of. My living room is 30.5 and I have pjs and oodie on lol

and that’s a very good reason to put it on now before it gets properly cold - heating always seems to break when it first goes on!

@NancyDrooo the halogen one's in screwfix are really good. I bought 2 and they heat my son's small room up in 15 mins in the morning. Perfect to be warm to get dressed before school.

Only one in my son's room I should clarify! @NancyDrooo
