28 year old woman missing in Edinburgh

I hope this is allowed.

Alice Byrne, 28, has been missing from Portobello since 1/1/22, last seen leaving a party that morning. She's described by police as vulnerable.

I don't know Alice well, but by sight because Porty is so small, but this has shattered the local community. I'm sharing in case there's any chance (please God) that it might help her be found safe and well.

She's five six, with dark brown/almost black hair. I'm really bad at adding photos but if someone else could that would be excellent.

Porty is a small, safe community in Edinburgh where everyone is friendly and this is such an unusual thing to happen.

Details again
Alice Byrne
28
Dark brown almost black hair
Vulnerable
Missing since nyd

Please share if you can

I was in Portobello a few days ago and saw lots of police about. I do hope that she is found. It is a really sad situation.

Police searching gardens in area.
Drones out too.

JasmineGarden · 07/01/2022 12:44

Oh god, I hope they find her (well) soon!

She looks lovely.

I'll keep her in my thoughts

Nowt much else I can do from the south of SE unfortunately.

ratspeaker · 07/01/2022 13:06

It wouldn't be unreasonable to keep sharing picture in case she's gone off somewhere without her phone and doesn't realise there's concern for her.
I'm just shocked at how little news coverage there is outside of local area.

There's also a young man missing from Musselburgh area. Unconnected but it's not getting much publicity either

theotherfossilsister · 07/01/2022 13:11

Thank you @Iwantthesummersun

I'm shocked by how big it is in Edinburgh but how it hasn't registered nationally at all. I hope your theory is right @ratspeaker

I'm in Musselburgh. With Dean and Alice missing it's a sombre start to the year. It's heartening to see how the community is pulling together, though.

MountainAshley · 07/01/2022 13:22

Bump. I hope Alice is found very soon.

emmathedilemma · 07/01/2022 13:32

Apologies for linking to the dishrag that is EEN but I'd just seen it on social media. There's 3 people currently missing in Edinburgh (all seemingly unrelated) www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/crime/edinburgh-missing-people-alice-byrne-dean-conner-and-james-dodds-disappearances-what-do-we-know-so-far-3518694

It has - the missing posters for her are in a lot of the shop windows here (I’m in Glasgow).
Gazelda · 07/01/2022 13:41

I've got relatives in both Portobello and Musselburgh. Lovely friendly communities. I hope that each of these young people are found safely very soon.

ratspeaker · 07/01/2022 14:45

Police going door to door also searching gardens in the area.
Drone out too along beach and shoreline

And still nothing on national news

theNumbersStation · 07/01/2022 14:49

I haven’t seen this on the news at all.

Their poor families.

Hoping for a positive outcome.

DrSophia · 07/01/2022 14:55

Gosh, how sad and worrying. I hope that there is good news soon.

workingtheusername · 07/01/2022 16:18

Posting to bump hope she is found safe

Superjaggy · 07/01/2022 16:59

I've seen posts on social media about Alice and I'm in northern Scotland - so the details are definitely being shared. I hope she and the other people who are missing return safely soon.

theotherfossilsister · 07/01/2022 17:33

Glad they're being shared throughout Scotland. I was just shocked that the BBC isn't reporting it even on it's Edinburgh page.

pictish · 07/01/2022 23:00

It’s big news here in Penicuik. I certainly hope she’s found safe.

workingtheusername · 08/01/2022 08:29
