If you recently tested positive, was the text from Protect-Scotland-App....not sure if this is a scam or a real result

Dh got a pcr today 28th at 3.30pm
Hes just noticed on his phone a text this morning at 11.09am saying his test on the 27th is positive.
The first lines on the text say

Protect-Scotland-App:
Protect-Scotland App Users
Your test on 27th was positive, then to isolate etc

But hes sure he received this text this morning before his pcr

We're flummoxed

Can anyone tell me what their pcr results text looked like please

Did he have a positive LFT?
Sounds like its related to the app rather than test and protect itself

ssd · 28/12/2021 21:23

No his lft was negative yesterday and today but he didnt enter anything into the app

Mine was originally from NHS result then TestProtect. The NHS result was my PCR result then the TestProtect one was to confirm it and had a reference number with a link to go online and share where we had been and our contacts. We did receive a ridiculous amount of duplicated messages though

ssd · 28/12/2021 21:23

He has cold symptoms so went for a pcr today as similar symptoms to omicron

Sounds like maybe someone has given the wrong mobile number perhaps?

Do you live in Scotland?

dementedpixie · 28/12/2021 21:26

Sounds like the wrong mobile number was given by someone else then

ssd · 28/12/2021 21:34

Am in Glasgow
But its his name on it

OP posts:
itsasmallworldafterall · 28/12/2021 21:35

It comes from NHSresult and has your full name and d.o.b.

ssd · 28/12/2021 21:35

Yes I thought the results would come from nhs, they always have previously

OP posts:
itsasmallworldafterall · 28/12/2021 21:36

After that you get one from Test Protect with a reference number and more information

ssd · 28/12/2021 21:40

Hes got that, with a reference number to enter into the app
In fact he has 2 separate texts from 2 separate days saying hes positive, but he didn't get a test on one of the days

That sounds like the text I got when I entered my positive lateral flow details into the covid reporting portal. It confused the life out of me.

Did he say he request his PCR by saying he had a positive lateral flow perhaps?

I then went on to get messages from the PCR later.

ssd · 28/12/2021 21:51

No he didn't have a positive lft and he had 2 negative ones

Just looking back, this is the text I received.

If you recently tested positive, was the text from Protect-Scotland-App....not sure if this is a scam or a real result
ssd · 28/12/2021 22:05

Was that the first text you got to confirm your pcr was positive?

OP posts:
ssd · 28/12/2021 22:05

His was the same text

OP posts:
Tiredoftiers · 28/12/2021 22:11

So I got that just after I attended for my PCR test, and initially thought it was the fastest test result ever.
I had a positive lateral flow, so had entered that as my reason for requesting a PCR. I had also filled out the covidtesting portal thingy to say my lateral flow was positive.
All test and protect messages come through on that number. But the actual PCR results came through on the NHSresult message.

jerometheturnipking · 28/12/2021 22:12

When DS tested positive I got texts from TestProtect as well as the usual results text from NHSresult. We had reported his positive lateral flow which triggered a barrage of messages, then more when his positive PCR came back the next day.

Tiredoftiers · 28/12/2021 22:13

So it's definitely not a result, sounds more like its been sent in error or something has triggered it.

They don't text results out after 2200, but you do get the emails. So it's worth looking at them. They kindly wake you the next morning with a 7am text message.

ssd · 28/12/2021 22:15

Ok thanks. He didn't have a positive lft, it was negative. Im not sure what he wrote when requesting his pcr last night. He probably didn't have his specs on and ticked the wrong box.
We'll await the results from NHS results, its always been that before

OP posts:
Tiredoftiers · 28/12/2021 22:40

Fingers crossed you get a quick, negative result.

ssd · 29/12/2021 00:00

Thanks 🤞

shouldistop · 29/12/2021 21:16

Did you get to the bottom of it @ssd ?

ssd · 29/12/2021 22:31

Yes. He called the helpline and they said they think the texts must have been sent by accident. And he got his results earlier today, negative.
But both texts from protect Scotland app had codes he could have entered onto the app and lots of people would have been pinged....for nothing, just because of a mistake.
Pretty poor really.

That's really bad. Wonder how many other people that's happened to
