Booster Queues

I’m very fortunate to have revived my booster in the last few days but wondered what everyone else’s experiences were of queuing at the vaccine centres? Both me and DH went to separate sites, different days, both queued for almost 3 hours to get our vaccine.

I guess is reflective of the high take up, but also wondered if most vaccinators have been stood down and returned to normal roles?

I was on Saturday (Grampian) and waited over 90 minutes just to get checked in. That was a pre-booked appointment, no walk-ins.

I had a pre-booked appointment in Moray this morning and was in and out with no difficulty. The person manning the door told me they have walk ins from 1 pm which is when the queue starts to build up. A lady came while I was there for a walk in appointment and she was told they should send her away as she was too early (by an hour) but they let her in. The advice is probably to book an early morning appointment or be prepared to queue! The vaccination centre was busier than I had seen it for my 2 previous vaccinations but run really slickly.

I had a pre booked appointment in Midlothian on Saturday. 1.5 hour queue unfortunately!

Anyone has any recent experience of how ques are at Gorebridge in Midlothian? We have a late afternoon booking and have to take kids.

Classica · 13/12/2021 13:34

Had mine done in Partick on Fri. Had heard about really long queues at that centre but there were only a couple of people ahead of me when got there.

Gottasinggottadance · 14/12/2021 11:51

Callisto, I was at Gorebridge last week (afternoon) and the wait was about 40 mins plus obviously 15 mins waiting around afterwards.

Are these queues even if you have a pre booked appointment? Surely they should have different queues for walk ins and people with appointments otherwise what’s the point in going to the trouble of booking one?

Callisto1 · 14/12/2021 11:59

Thanks @Gottasinggottadance that sounds awful! Might see if I can move my appt then so we don't have to drag the kids...

I think the general consensus was that many weren’t accepting walking ins and the queues were all booked appointments. Sounds like there’s a mix of ambitious number of slots, staff shortages and overbooking going on

Ah ok Yellow85, that makes sense. Hopefully they won’t be too bad when I go, but I will dress warmly just in case!
