Do you think it will mostly centre around the fan zone decision or are we likely to see Edinburgh go into tier 3?

OP posts:
latissimusdorsi · 08/06/2021 13:29

Will it be a 2 hr time slot like the pubs and restaurants?

Horehound · 08/06/2021 13:33

I do t understand the banner telling people to sit down again. The mixing will have been done, so what's the point?!

ResilienceWanker · 08/06/2021 13:35

@Furbs

Yep, a banner is to be aired saying it will only be switched back on once people return to their seats. Doesn't fill me with confidence tbh.
Ooof. No, I really don't think they've thought that through at all!
Furbs · 08/06/2021 13:36

To avoid further mixing a guess.

I mean it's not going to work and I agree that it could end up in riots. This is part of the reason I would like to see no alcohol sold if it goes ahead.

The pubs are smaller, easier to control. Leave them to make their profit and make this a zone for people who want to watch without booze

Furbs · 08/06/2021 13:37

At a guess*

Sorry phone screen smashed today 😭 my keyboard keeps jumping now.

Horehound · 08/06/2021 13:37

Yes, no booze needed quote frankly. If footy is so important, watch it without a drink

Furbs · 08/06/2021 13:40

latissimusdorsi

It definitely won't be. If it were to go into extra time, penalties etc it wouldn't work.

I assume it will be for the duration of the game and maybe an hour give or take either side? That is me speculating though. They need to avoid mass entry/exit so it might be staggered entry and exit. There are so many variables.

I don't understand the recommendation to test before but not making it mandatory either. It should be proof of a negative test for entry.

Sorry to interrupt but what time is briefing on at and what channel?

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 08/06/2021 14:21

BBC one just now, humza talking. Apparently no spirits will be served on match day? Did anyone catch that? My DD was babbling away

No spirits but beer and wine will be served
ResilienceWanker · 08/06/2021 14:38

But, but, but- what if I self-identify as someone who wants a g&t?

Furbs · 08/06/2021 14:38

No changes to any restrictions then. That's good at least

🤷‍♀️ Got to laugh at the idea they’ll just switch the big screen off if folk are misbehaving. What a joke.
Meantime, the over 12s will be getting jagged to protect the over 50yo footy fans let’s hope parental consent will be considered and no child will be turned away from school In August if they haven’t had it. Will this be a pan U.K. policy for over 12s?
That’s for another thread, another day...

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 08/06/2021 14:48

That's mad! 2 glasses of wine would see me drunker than 2 vodkas.

She side stepped the graduation question as well. Need to leave for school run so will not see the rest.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 08/06/2021 14:58

Twice she was asked about soft play and twice made a big show of answering a slightly different question to the one asked. She claims to have had clinical advice that soft play is a particular environment, so it should be pretty easy to produce said advice, and answer why soft play is more dangerous than other indoor venues shouldn't it? Instead of addressing the inconsistencies, or offering to work with providers to make them level 2 safe as Sarwar suggested, she waffles on about how you can't open everything at once (which no one was suggesting we do) and how none of it is easy. Well no shit, but you should still be able to explain the basis of your difficult decisions. Unless they literally just picked sectors to open and sectors to remain closed so as not to 'open it all at once'.

Windyone · 08/06/2021 15:03

While you’re all here does anyone know how long PCR results are taking in Edinburgh just now? Sorry to disturb the thread Smile

TheMShip · 08/06/2021 15:20

@Windyone didn't want to read & run - we've had a few in the last 3 weeks and it's always been an early morning text/email the next day.

Windyone · 08/06/2021 15:30

@TheMShip thank you! First time for us just when we had started planning things 🙄

ResilienceWanker · 08/06/2021 15:31

Unless they literally just picked sectors to open and sectors to remain closed so as not to 'open it all at once'.

I do think this isn't far from the truth. Loads of things were "opened all at once" in the move from level 3 to 2 (cinemas, theatres, bingo, stadia, pubs, meeting in homes etc etc). It really is only soft play that you can do in level 1 and not 2 as far as I can see (plus changes to numbers maybe in other things). I'm not saying the SG are softplayphobic, but there really doesn't seem to be any other logic. I assume it comes down to "the general public" STILL assuming children are hotbeds of germs and not wanting them to be around crawling all over each other. That, and it's quite a small economic sector that really doesn't generate much tax or many jobs (obvs, not a help for those employed in the sector) - plus, it's only children/ parents affected, and they don't cause too much of a political stink when they are disadvantaged, because they've had so many other sacrifices to be made over the past year... And they should be happy to be in school/ nursery Hmm

RedcurrantPuff · 08/06/2021 15:34

No one should be going into tier 3 and no schools should be closing, hospital numbers are stable, hardly anyone is dying, this is a nonsense now.

Furbs · 08/06/2021 15:35

Windyone

All of ours have been within 24 hours but friends one last week was over 2 days.

OP posts:
RedcurrantPuff · 08/06/2021 15:39

I’d still see people indoors if we moved to level 3, or level 4 for that matter. As long as they were also happy with it

I’m done with this illogical bullshit now. None of it makes any sense. It’s time to stop announcing “cases” IMO. How many of these “cases” are actually ill or even have any symptoms at all?

ssd · 08/06/2021 19:13

They cant close the fanzones. If they let 15000 rangers fans enmasse walk through from ibrox to George sq and take it over, with a bloody police escort, they can let fans into an area outdoors collectively managed. My ds is going and i really hope its not cancelled. Its been a shit year for a 22 yr old already. And its not comparable to softplay, thats something no kid over 4 really remembers, its just a good reason for parents to keep the toddler or baby occupied for an hour or so. I get softplay owners being angry though.

ssd · 08/06/2021 19:16

Totally agree the fanzone should be proof of negative test before entry. Like that nightclub event in Liverpool.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 08/06/2021 19:25

Oh I don't think the fanzone should be closed. I think it's a brill idea but it's the bullshit that comes with it in regards to the other restrictions.
