Desperate to move -Where to buy a property for £150,000 max in Scotland?

I would really appreciate some advice. I am looking to move to Scotland on a small budget to try to save my health and sanity!

I need a quiet, safe place where I can buy a 2 bed property with some outdoor space and I would love something near the sea.

The main requirement, beyond peace and quiet and access to nature, is that it is needs to have a train station as I don't drive and to be close-ish to a hospital. I would like to be no further than an hour from either Glasgow or Edinburgh if possible.

I have had the bad news that my London flat is affected by the cladding scandal as my buyer could not secure a mortgage without one of these new fire safety survey so my plans to sell quickly and to comfortably buy in Scotland with a bigger budget have been turned upside-down.

I've had a lot of health issues (with one more operation coming this week) and I really need to leave the capital for a better life at this stage because it is starting to make my long term health condition worse and I just need a way out.

Can anyone recommend somewhere? I am happy with a small town or village, but not a big city. I can renovate something and I don't need a 'pretty' house at all, just a quiet location where I can try to recover for the next few years.

Eyemouth, Berwickshire. Fishing village with regular bus services to Berwick for train station, shops etc. You would get a nice little house with a garden for your budget.

This meets all of your requirements apart from near the sea, it’s less than a mile to the train station which which will take you straight to Glasgow & Edinburgh in less than an hour, it’s also local to a hospital!

Another one saying Ayrshire, you'll get something really nice for £150k round here, and there are some decent seaside towns with rail access to Glasgow.

Im not sure I'd recommend Airdrie. (no offence Airdrionians).

Definitely Ayrshire, you'll easily get what your looking for here. Troon is nice coastal town with rail links. Ten minute drive to local hospital.

Agree, no to Airdrie especially when there’s plenty affordable coastal areas.

Not by the sea but there's plenty in Falkirk and some in Stirling in budget. Kelpies and Helix in Falkirk and Stirling has too much to mention. Both are in between Glasgow and Edinburgh with train stations and gorgeous countryside on your doorstep.

Yep Ayrshire. Anywhere on the Ayr to Glasgow train route along the coast pretty much, or you could do the same on the Largs / Greenock routes.

Youd need to take a ferry, but it is an easy journey to Glasgow.

Broughty Ferry (suburb of Dundee) has a beach and a train station and big hospital in Dundee. Could get to Edinburgh in not much over an hour.

What about Dundee? Near to the sea and Edinburgh, up and coming area.

I have familiarised myself with the sale process a bit in Scotland and understand the 'offer over' side of things and at least not being in a chain will allow me to concentrate on my buy.

I assume my next step should be to find a reputable solicitor to guide me further.

No sea, but... fairly quiet village, across the road from the main line to Glasgow and edinburgh, so less than an hour to both and easy enough access to proper countryside without being too rural if you don’t drive.
