just that really. Keep looking at the news to see when changes are going to happen here & there's nothing!

Three weeks at the earliest, I'd think. Angry

Mrsjayy · 16/06/2020 09:48

I think we will see changes on Thursday maybe smaller shops but I think it will be end of month start of July for primark bigger shops.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 16/06/2020 09:54

I’m a bit confused by this as apparently our local Next is already open. I think it’s technically open for the homeware, but you can buy anything you like once in there.

Mrsjayy · 16/06/2020 09:57

Where dd works is opened for click and collect. But she is still furloughed. I don't think our next is opened and it's a department store.

ssd · 16/06/2020 10:02

I think small shops open in phase 2, being announced on Thursday, and bigger shops in phase 3, sometime in July.

TreeTopTim · 16/06/2020 10:04

I am sure all of the information is on the Scottish government website.

Mrsjayy · 16/06/2020 10:32

Well yes it is on the government website but chatting about it is fine isn't it because the SG are seeing how things go.

mumofone2818 · 16/06/2020 11:18

theres i formation on the website but no dates to say when it'll happen so i was asking opinions thanks.

First world problems here but i need into primark for new socks, been walking about the house so much in just my socks they have holes in them Blush local tesco never has any plain ones in my size!

just looking forward to a teeny glimpse of normality x

OP posts:
jomaIone · 16/06/2020 11:22

You can buy socks anywhere, why are you waiting on Primark??

There are no dates on the website because the SG doesn't even know them yet so no idea why Mumsnet would. Nicola has made that clear. Businesses have been told this week that phase 2 is potentially starting from Thursday, or maybe the following Monday so just read what phase 2 entails... Surely it's not difficult.

Mrsjayy · 16/06/2020 11:24

We all need primark Grin a little bit normality and a look forward is what we all need, hopefully on Thursday there will be something positive.

Mrsjayy · 16/06/2020 11:26

Give the op a break nobody needs to be so bloody tetchy.

poppet31 · 16/06/2020 11:27

The government guidance changed recently to allow homeware to be classed as essential. So that's why some bigger stores such as next, matalan, Sterling etc have opened up in the last week or so.

mumofone2818 · 16/06/2020 11:30

yeah if you read my post my local tesco hasnt had any at all in my size that would help with your sarky comment. oh and also that I have read the website i know allll about the phases and what not I was just wondering if anyone here has managed to find anything on it thats not the gov or news so thanks for your unhelpful input!

and before anyone says buy socks online no because i'm not buying non-essential things at the moment nor will i pay a ridiculous amount of money for a pack of 3 pairs of plain white socks

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 16/06/2020 11:35

Oh I have an email from Matalan bet it is to say its opened.

Apolloanddaphne · 16/06/2020 11:37

@Mrsjayy I can not think of any time when I might need Primark! Other shops yes, but never Primark. I really detest it.

TheMurk · 16/06/2020 11:38

I feel desperately sorry for the shop owners in our local village. The wee card shop, the menswear shop that is the only place my DF will wear clothes from, the flower shop, the tiny tea room I’m not sure why they haven’t opened for takeaway I actually think the owner is too scared to in case it’s against the rules, the book shop, there’s a kids second hand clothes shop... I would love to buy a little card for Father’s Day, I would love to get some blackout curtains for my baby’s room - have I to order online from some big corporate or use a small local business and a local lady’s skills?

I’m gutted for the hairdresser the barber the beautician the nail shop.

Gutted for them all.

This is a never ending nightmare for lots of honest, hard working, tax paying, good community minded people.

ssd · 16/06/2020 11:53

It is a nightmare but I'm so grateful to them all for closing to keep us all safe.

jomaIone · 16/06/2020 12:00

We are all craving a bit of normality, don't get me wrong. But the constant questions about when this will open etc is getting on my tits. No one knows, and it could all change. Just order some socks from h&m.

Mrsjayy · 16/06/2020 12:02

Two of my friends own beauty businesses not huge salons they are struggling emotionally as well as financially it's such a shame, they are in their shops Corona proofing which is costing them.

@Apolloanddaphne it isn't about "primark " it's about getting some normality into our lives I don't think the op needed to be nipped at like she was stupid.

mumofone2818 · 16/06/2020 12:05

Yeah i miss my local meat shop for crispy rolls and ayrshire ham lol it's the little things!

I did however just recieve an email from a spa chain i have visited before saying they are opening in Scot on July 18th, they do massages brows spray tans etc

OP posts:
mumofone2818 · 16/06/2020 12:13

sorry the 15th July it says!

OP posts:
Apolloanddaphne · 16/06/2020 12:13

@Mrsjayy I know - I was just jesting with you. It doesn't always come over well on chat! I should have put a Grin.

I really miss my local shops but I cannot imagine how most of them can impose social distancing as they are very small. I also cannot wait for my hairdresser to open but as we are in Scotland I expect it will be around Christmas given Nicola's slow approach to relaxing measures.

mumofone2818 · 16/06/2020 12:24

my roots on my hair are terrible and look ten times worse because of the colourof my hair Sad i normally do it myself but the price for it has all trippled on amazon because salon services is shut! and i'm trying not to buy non essential things atm online,

I'm looking forward to places opening up but I won't be joining in on massive ques hours before they open

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 16/06/2020 12:28

Maybe it's me that's a bit nippy Blush I'll start again Grin

ssd · 16/06/2020 15:22

Surely if nail bars are opening on July 15th then the hairdressers will be open then too? And the barbers presumably. Actually I read on here 15th July is when phase 3 starts, bigger shops will be open then too.
