just that really. Keep looking at the news to see when changes are going to happen here & there's nothing!

Our local next and matalan are open. Ds has grown and I've struggled to buy his size in the supermarkets or online shops.

Dunelm's queue was huge on Saturday when we went to pick up our blind. And the bed shop next to it was still closed. But staff rearranging things.

I think there will be limited resumption of some business from Friday/Monday next, but I don't believe it's going to include all the industries mentioned in the Phase 2 literature. I think pubs etc are going to be closed until at least 15th July, and any businesses that are permitted to open in the next relaxation will be subject to strict social-distancing and safety measures, so I think that in itself will create huge problems for small shops and businesses which either can't afford the necessary equipment, or more likely, will be unable to meet the distancing requirements or secure supply of the required equipment.

I think it's becoming apparent SG are going for eradication of Covid before they completely lift restrictions, and while that's a nuisance, I think that ultimately it's sensible over and above just opening anything and everything RIGHT NOW, only to have to close up again in a month or two if infections start to climb again.

OP, if you're just after socks, there are plenty of places online you can order from, and most supermarkets with a clothing department carry plain cotton socks. Even the likes of B&M usually carry pretty cheap multipacks of socks, and they've been open throughout.

@ssd

Surely if nail bars are opening on July 15th then the hairdressers will be open then too? And the barbers presumably. Actually I read on here 15th July is when phase 3 starts, bigger shops will be open then too.
I’m pretty sure anything saying they’re opening July 15th is jumping the gun tbh.

My hairdresser has no clue when they’ll be able to open, because even if the phases do start on the expected date, they’ll still need to know when in that phase specific business types will be allowed to open... and they’re not entirely sure what will be required to reopen either.

I'm mistaken then. Such a shame and very uncertain for the salon owners and workers.

Sonichu · 16/06/2020 15:50

I work in a bookies and we're opening on Monday. 🙃

chocolicious · 16/06/2020 17:12

My hairdressing salon have said they won't be able to open until phase 3 , but don't know when that will be.

ssd · 16/06/2020 17:15

Phase 3 is July 15th

@TreeTopTim

I am sure all of the information is on the Scottish government website.
My post was not meant as a bitchy post. It was meant to be helpful. The Scottish government released a whole load of slides about each phase. Each phase is 3 weeks long.

No one can know for definite when things will reopen but the slides on the website are a good basis to start.

Does anyone know about theatres? Phase 4? Post phase 4? I don't think I've seen it specified but see all Cameron McIntosh's productions are off till after Christmas. No panto?
