Do you really save money by flying from down south?

Been looking at few holidays and I've heard about people saving thousands by going to Liverpool or Manchester. There doesn't seem to be that much of a saving though Hmm especially factoring in getting the train down etc.

Am I too late for this year? Or is it only if your drive you save?

This is the first year we have flown from Glasgow as most other years it has been much cheaper to fly from Manchester. (Even factoring in the drive,
hotel for 1 night and airport parking) We go just as the Scottish schools break up and before English ones do
