Emummy. Don't discount St Andrews. A DS of a very good friend of mine has applied for medicine and received all offers from his choices- Cambridge,, St As Glasgow and Edinburgh. He wasn't at all impressed with Edinburgh. His order of preference was Cambridge, st. As, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

emummy · 09/06/2019 17:09

It's Dd rather than me - I think you & I live in the same town Aurea and she wants somewhere more exciting! Dundee is her number 1 at the moment

Open day week completed! 3 interesting visits; Glasgow has come out on top. We can't make it to Aberdeen but she is doing their 'doctors at work' event in summer so that will help. Hope you enjoyed your visits Wicked.

WickedGoodDoge · 14/06/2019 18:11

Yes, they were good. DS lobed Glasgow and the Open Day was well organised- lots to do/see and approachable staff and students. We found Edinburgh to be overcrowded and quite chaotic, but still worthwhile visiting.

We’re not going to any Open Days at Aberdeen (at the moment DS isn’t planning on applying there, but that might well change), but he needs to be up in Aberdeen in a few weeks time for something else so we are going to head up a bit early and have a wander round the campus.

WickedGoodDoge · 14/06/2019 18:11

*loved not lobed

For those who have been through results day before, when does UCAS track update? Can you find out whether you have been accepted on to your course via Track before SQA emails at 8am?
Thanks!

Alittewornout · 18/06/2019 20:48

Aurea I am sure it is 9 am in results day.

Aurea · 18/06/2019 21:46

Thanks. It was 8am last year for Highers from SQA, I'm sure.

Alittewornout · 19/06/2019 07:12

I checked the ucas website says 9 am for sqa but 8 am for A levels. Not sure why the difference!

Aurea · 19/06/2019 07:26

Thank you!

Getting fed up with the wait now.....Hmm

Groovee · 20/06/2019 21:39

It was 9am on results day but when Dd finally got in, it had been updated on the 2nd to an unconditional place.

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/07/2019 20:25

3 weeks on Tuesday people! Anyone been up to much? DS2 got his official diagnosis of DCD through and we've forwarded that on to the Uni so now waiting to hear what comes of that. Otherwise not to much happening here, just impatiently waiting to see what results day brings.

WickedGoodDoge · 14/07/2019 09:47

Oh that’s good you have an official diagnosis through.

DS is off in Scandinavia. He did a tall ship sail from Aberdeen to Frederikstad for his gold DoE residential and then had a couple of days in Oslo. He’s just boarded a plane to Stockholm for a couple of nights before flying home. He’s finding the travel bit very stressful. Grin Struggled to find the right bus stop in Frederikstad and this morning there has been much stress about finding the train station and then not having a boarding pass for the plane (because he checked in via the app and so didn’t need one! But getting him to understand this!). But he’s on the plane now so hopefully he’ll find his way to the next hostel OK. Grin

I suppose it’s keeping his mind off results day!

WaxOnFeckOff · 14/07/2019 18:11

Wow, he's done well with his hols then!

DS2 has met up a few times with friends for lunch and came on holiday with us too. He gets out and about most days even if it's just for a walk. He's supposed to be looking for a job but no actual effort has been made.

DS1 is a big concern. Apart from coming on holiday with us and out for meals with us, he has only left his room for the odd walk. That's been since end March. He had no exams and got a distinction for his first year at uni based on his results from class assessments. Think he needed over 70% for that and he got about 90%. However, as he can virtually no longer speak to people he is going to be unemployable. :(

We've had a big talk with him but it really doesn't seem to have made any difference.

emummy · 15/07/2019 11:28

Sorry to hear that about your ds1 Wax, sounds very worrying. I hope he & you can find a way through. Hope ds2's diagnosis makes a difference for him.
Wicked sounds like he's having an adventure! Hope the next part went ok.
Dd is studying for UCAT so still quite stressed. Am trying to set up days out for her to help her relax. Fingers crossed for results day.

WickedGoodDoge · 15/07/2019 16:36

Oh Wax, that’s such a shame! It must be very stressful for all of you. I wish I had some advice.

The SQA timetable for 2020 is out. Not that I’ve been checking, or anything....

Alittewornout · 15/07/2019 17:00

Wax hopefully a diagnosis will enable proper supports to be put it place, keeping my fingers crossed.
Yes wicked I noticed the time table is out if goes to plan with highers Dd will have advanced higher physics on her 18th Birthday!🙈 For obvious reasons I haven’t been brave enough to break that piece of new to her yet!!🤣
