Do you remember RazzleDazzle?

I used to come into town every Saturday for a drama class (pretentious? moi?) and I'd go to RazzleDazzle where Greggs is now on Buchanan Street at the lane to Queen Street. Well, the modern day equivalent has opened in Buchanan galleries. Instead of three pairs of earrings for a pound, it's three pairs for a tenner. (Inflation!)

I'll never forget the thrill of a RazzleDazzle haul.

that's it!

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 11/08/2017 01:10

Definitely one in Edinburgh too. Remember it as being similar to Whatties.(what everyone wants)

There was never a What Every Woman Wants in Edinburgh surely???

RazzleDazzle used to have an entry in what used to be called Rutland Mail and then became DX Document Exchange. Rutland Mail /DX is a private mail system originally used by solicitors but now loads of businesses but when RazzleDazzle were listed it was mainly lawyers, accountants, stock brokers. It used to puzzle me what they used it for.

M4deline · 02/04/2018 22:08

I remember that well, we sold 900 pairs at 99p each
The girls were running over Bells Bridge with armfuls cos we weren't allowed to stock up during the day
Brilliant!
Mr. Razzle

Great memories, thanks Smile

The Razzle Dazzle in East Kilbride was great, I got my soft stretchy cords with underfoot straps (before Jeggings were invented) in a size 11!
Ironically it was next to Galls which sold first bras, cross your heart bras, knitting needles and wool.

Bejazzled · 02/04/2018 23:10

Wrygges was dark and trendy, downstairs from the more staid Goldbergs. EK had a Virgo and a Chelsea girl then later on a What Everys - good times

ayedidye · 02/04/2018 23:16

The one in Perth changed to state of independence. Equally as great!

AgentProvocateur · 02/04/2018 23:30

I was about to share my memories then realised I started this thread last year Grin

Dundee definitely had an international, in murraygate

I used to work there, god I wore some horrendous outfits Grin a particular high (low?!) was a black strappy stretch cotton dress that had a Kit Kat logo on the front, but it said Kiss Kiss instead. Cool GrinGrin

Excellent work on the long running thread AgentProvocateur!

PlainWhiteTee · 02/04/2018 23:42

This takes me back! I had my 21st birthday party in Panama Jax!

Groovee · 03/04/2018 07:04

@LassWiTheDelicateAir we had whatties on South Bridge. Just opposite Hunters Square.

ssd · 03/04/2018 09:43

what was the name of the posers pub underneath the central station , just as you came out the downstairs entrance?

ssd · 03/04/2018 09:47

got it...Tropics Grin

AgentProvocateur · 04/04/2018 23:59

@ssd and before or after that was it the 39 Steps?

I had my 18th in the Cotton Club.

OP posts:
ssd · 05/04/2018 19:26

nah, 39 steps was on the ground level of central, next to the entrance at the bottom of the steps leading out of central, tropics was under the heilman's umbrella (though we never called it that), anyway it was just to the left of the entrance coming out central once you got off the downstairs escalators

did you not know Tropics agent?

AgentProvocateur · 05/04/2018 21:13

Never heard of Tropics! My go to bars were 39 Steps, Alice Underground, Cambridge st, and before that, when I was very underage, I went to one downstairs from pizza land in either West Nile St or Renfield St. I think it may have been called Oasis.

The Garage is still going strong @ssd as far as I know.

I loved dazzle dazzle and what everys- I remember the big communal changing rooms that smelled really sweaty Confused

WeeM · 05/04/2018 21:22

*razzle

Lessstressedhemum · 06/04/2018 15:49

The best shop inglasgow then was Flip! We had a Whatevery's, a Razzle, a Wrygges, Virgo and everything in Irvine when I was a teen - I worked in most of them!
When I went to uni in Edinburgh mid/late 80s, Helios Fountain was my favourite place ( except maybe the Pear tree or the Doctors). It fuelled all my jewellery making escapades. Huge birdcage earrings with bells dangling off the bottoms, anyone? Dollis was THE BEST shoe shop.

CreamCol0uredP0nies · 06/04/2018 16:58

Loved Flip ( despite the special aroma when you went in ) - got all my Levi 501s from there.

ayedidye · 06/04/2018 19:41

Flip was amazing! And cult clothing. Loved that.

popcornpaws · 09/04/2018 19:39

Ultratech brought back memories!!
A guy once invited me back to his flat for a party after being in ultratech, with the promise of a can of cider and a greggs sausage roll!

We used to go to Dinos after the club closed for hot doughnuts before going home, happy days!

ssd · 09/04/2018 22:57

we used to go to Change at Jamaica after a club for breakfast food

I remember flip and the swing doors on the changing rooms, I seen a flea walking across the floor there once

does anyone remember the big shop on Union street, across from central, it was about 3 floors and it sold all the punk stuff on the top floor? I got a mohair red and black striped jumper there, I looked like him out the beano, but I thought I was the bees knees...it also sold crazy colour.

ssd · 09/04/2018 22:58

does anyone remember Paris and TJ's in Paisley?

PlainWhiteTee · 11/04/2018 23:31

Yes! Change at Jamaica for breakfast, and Ultrateque and Mardi Gras and Warehouse! One of those two had a dance floor which moved up and down, I'd put my drink down and go for a dance, and get off the dance floor on a different floor from where I started and could never find my drink! 😂

StoorieHoose · 24/04/2018 07:04

Loved loved loved Flip and I know that my DD would love to have a rummage if there was one open now
