Do you remember RazzleDazzle?

I used to come into town every Saturday for a drama class (pretentious? moi?) and I'd go to RazzleDazzle where Greggs is now on Buchanan Street at the lane to Queen Street. Well, the modern day equivalent has opened in Buchanan galleries. Instead of three pairs of earrings for a pound, it's three pairs for a tenner. (Inflation!)

I'll never forget the thrill of a RazzleDazzle haul.

And there was wrygges as well.
I'm sure there was a razzle dazzle in trongate as well as the one under the bridge at central. My sister loved the place, I was quite young to I preferred c&a

RubyJack · 25/07/2017 00:03

I worked there the summer I was 17 before starting university.

jasmine1979 · 25/07/2017 00:08

Yep! I remember there used to be one in the centre in Perth. It was on the corner opposite waterstones, a record shop and a glass lift I think. I was desperate to get a denim jacket from there as a teenager, but my Mum wouldn't let me. Angry

Tumblethumps · 25/07/2017 00:13

What was the shop down the bottom of Sauchiehall Street. I think past Hope still towards Renfield St? Was that a WEWW too? I remember it having lots of mirrors and lots of hats and scarfs and belts for sale.

OOAOML · 25/07/2017 11:13

I think I used to buy loads of those thin metal bangles from the one in Perth - used to have a big bunch of them. So stylist!

Notreallyarsed · 25/07/2017 11:18

I'd forgotten all about Razzle Dazzle and whateverys!

dotdotdotmustdash · 31/07/2017 16:18

My Db got a job as a door security guard in the Princes Street RazzleDazzle when he left the army. Not the highlight of his career!

It was closer to the west end on a corner, possibly Hanover Street? I can't remember exactly where but I can picture it! Can't find anything on google Sad

This is good article if you were hanging around in Edinburgh in the 80s.

Dazzle Dazzle was on Princes St - in the Bookworld shop next to BHS (R.I.P).

Loved a Saturday in town - off the bus at the West End and into the sweet shop up from Poundstretchers that sold Jelly Bellys along with a browse of the Purple Ronnie cards. Into John Menzies for stationery - tin Naf Naf pencil case anyone? Downstairs for the music dept or HMV sometimes for a change.

Haagen Dazs for an ice-cream if you were feeling flush, Littlewoods for the salad bar or Pizzaland on Hanover St.

Loved Olympus for dodgy shellsuits and downstairs for trainers. Saxone or Dolcis for 'going out' shoes then all the way to St James Centre for River Island stopping off in The Body Shop on the way for testers of fuzzy peach, white musk or ananya.

Also loved the Sweater Shop & Waverley Market for Athena, Clothesline, Benetton, Bay Trading, Morgan, Kookai etc!

Saturday's in 90's Edinburgh were ace!

Yes I remember it, the clothes were bloody horrific but I loved staring at them! Gold crunchy bomber jackets and headbands galore.

just seen this thread

does anyone remember Virgo in Glasgow, just down from the central station?

and getting your haircut in the place where ultratheque was, where it was all mirrors? called Das Har?

and panama jax, the warehouse and furry murrays?

AgentProvocateur · 06/08/2017 12:00

Omg - Das Haar! I'd forgotten all about that.

I was a regular at Warehouse and Mardi Gras in my youth. I'd go to the 39 Steps (on union st) first, then down to Mardi Gras with its moving dance floor Grin Those were the days!

Goldbergs for fish and chips in the restaurant

do you remember Virgo on union st AgentProvocateur?

and a place across from 39 steps which sold punky stuff and crazy colour for our hair?

AgentProvocateur · 07/08/2017 20:22

I think I do remember Virgo - we even had one in Kirkintillocj! Was it green and white? And do you remember a bar called - I think - Alice's Underground, and it had a car in it? It was on Cambridge street.

OP posts:
ssd · 08/08/2017 09:45

I dont remember that place, I remember a place on sauchiehall street that had a car sticking out of it, I think it was a club, not sure, it might still be there in fact I'm never up that way!

do you remember Grants the bookshop just at the entrance to central station? I spent hours in there as a kid, in the basement, I loved all the school stuff.

I'm not sure the colours of virgo but I remember getting a white blouse with a red bow tie from them Grin...and mohair batwing sleeved jumpers...itchy!!

Iamtheresurrection · 08/08/2017 13:35
