My dd1 is in s4 and about to sit 8 Nat5s. I don't know who is more wound up about it - her or me! (and I'm a teacher!!).

Wondered if there's anyone else out there to hold hands with?

DD is sitting English, Maths, Ghaidlig (Gaelic native speaker), French, History, Art & Design, Physics and Design & Manufacture. First is English on 5th May.

DD1 still isn't doing any work...says she's got it covered - but I think she is feeling the pressure a bit. Feeling nervous.
She is being unbearable today - really, really hyper, really loud and lively. (She takes medication in the week for school and I do notice it wearing off at night and at the weekends - when she seems more hyper than she used to be anyway - I think it is a release thing)
But today she is almost uncontrollable - even DP tetchily asked her to stop shouting (talking really loudly) and he is more laid back about noise than I am - and he was at work until 4pm.
I did think she should have her medication to help concentrate to study on some days during her study leave as well as for the exams but now I am thinking I need her to have it for my sanity... (I work part-time from home)
And at some point I need to make sure she has organised her writing implements etc - and knows what will happen. She has been given a big booklet you and your exams or something from the SQA and I know she hasn't looked at it - I can't bear to at the moment....she says she doesn't even know her candidate number..Confused
Also need to get her to register to get the results by text/email -at the moment she says she doesn't care but I think she will when the time comes...

Unlucky, would it be worth getting her candidate number from the school and you signing her up? Hoping things get easier for you X

prettybird · 01/05/2016 08:56

Ds is also saying he's not going to sign up for email/text results, saying he's not bothered about waiting for the post despite the fact that sometimes only gets here after 4pm Hmm

I'm expecting that he'll learn from his mistake and sign up next year Grin

hidingwithwine · 01/05/2016 09:00

Yeah DS waited for the post last year and had to endure waking up to his mates texting/posting their results on FB. Our postie arrived at 3pm Hmm. This year he signed up for text results as soon as he could.

OneMagnumisneverenough · 01/05/2016 09:00

I'm sure DS1 will sign up. Results are due on DS2s birthday.

Groovee · 01/05/2016 09:10

Checking the diary, dh is on call the night of results which may not mean dinner out Hmm

OneMagnumisneverenough · 01/05/2016 09:11

We should be having dinner out anyway for DS2 so it kills two birds and all that...

OneMagnumisneverenough · 01/05/2016 09:13

Although obviously there may be arguments about whos turn it is to choose where to go.

prettybird · 01/05/2016 09:24

When are the results due?

hidingwithwine · 01/05/2016 09:25

9th August as far as I know

OneMagnumisneverenough · 01/05/2016 09:27

Yup, 9th August.

weegiemum · 01/05/2016 17:19

I'd better get dd1 to sign up for text then - we might well be away on the 9th August - and in a place with no internet and bad mobile reception!

She worked today from 11 - 3 and is now at the cinema with her boyfriend to see Captain America. Trying to get her to move away a little from English as she knows all that, but I'm still listening to endless replays of Christopher Ecclestone reading "Dulce et decorum est"!

Dis is just revising the Carol Ann Duffy poems for the Scottish text question and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" for the other question and refusing to do anything else Hmm.

Just have to hope that he likes the questions that relate to those texts Hmm

Groovee · 01/05/2016 19:10

Dd's lost her pukka pad with all her English stuff!

hidingwithwine · 01/05/2016 19:16

Oh no Groovee Shock. DS has The Slab Boys - which he hates and One Flew Over...which he adores Hmm

Groovee · 01/05/2016 19:34

She brought it home on Tuesday says she's lost it -in the pigsty she calls a room-

Lidlfix · 01/05/2016 20:10

What texts is she studying I can send resources if I have any? She's probably just in panic mode and her notepad is under her pile of "important stuff" . BrewCake for you both.

prettybird · 01/05/2016 21:47

Oh bugger. I'm sure she'll find it eventually under the piles of rubbish work in her room Wink

Superjaggy · 01/05/2016 21:54

Oh no, Groovee... Hope it turns up. My DS is studying some Jackie Kay poems and The Sandman, if his notes would help?

Like Prettybird's DS, he's just hoping for a decent set of questions around those texts....

I'm not seeing a lot of studying going on from my DS, but he's got a clear week after English and maths so I'm trying not to say anything...

prettybird · 01/05/2016 22:18

Superjaggy - I'm glad ds is not the only one Grin

OneMagnumisneverenough · 01/05/2016 22:29

The only text i kno DS is doing is Bold Girls and I only know that as he asked me to buy it.

unlucky83 · 02/05/2016 00:22

groovee I think the best way to find things is to have a tidy up and clean ....you might get her to muck out her sty!
If she is anything like me (a queen of procrastination) she'll be tidying up anyway - my house is never as clean and tidy as when I have to do some work I don't want to do ....
All I know DD is doing is a View from a (the?) Bridge as I had to buy a copy...but she did say something earlier about earning a chocolate bar because she was the only person in her class who knew a certain number of quotes or something from their set texts which has made me feel slightly more positive for Thursday...
Still very lively today but slightly better than yesterday...
I will have to sit her down and sort her out - think I'll wait till Tuesday when her sister is back at school and I can give full attention. Her first exam is Wed....but she says she's fine for that one...sigh.

Groovee · 02/05/2016 08:47

She's hurt her knee, so going to take her to minor injuries. Then we'll tackle the room. I'm working tomorrow, but she is going into school. She's got her texts as she bought the books for her own copies rather than the school ones.

hidingwithwine · 02/05/2016 10:10

DS has cleaned his room for the past three weekends Grin? He's also volunteered to help his Gran garden, do the ironing took him up on that and play games with his wee brother. I recognise those procrastination signs as I am a champ at it myself.

Groovee · 02/05/2016 10:39

Dd is doing the cone gatherers and the view from the bridge. She mentioned another one too. Think the pad was left in the dance hall.
