...what a nightmare that is going to be.

I live in Fife and DH works in Edinburgh. He gets the train but now they will be mobbed. Not good for businesses as a whole. The Kincardine Bridge will be mobbed and the roads around there are not great.

I hope they fix it soon.

Yeah there was a signal failure at some point between 5pm and 6pm (not exactly sure when) which was fixed just after 7 and trains started to move again then. By that stage they were heaving and a bit slow but at least moving! I had left my office in Leith at the back of 5 to get up to the station, got home at 7.45pm. So my journey in and out today was around 5 hours in total.

I know these things can't be helped but my word it was frustrating. Thank goodness there is an M & S simply food in the station so that I arrange chocolate-based sustenance. For the baby, obvs. Grin

Awwww Cheesy, commuting while pregnant is tough even without all this chaos.
I once nearly got in a fight with a nun whilst commuting when I was pregnant & lived in Dublin.
Folk here are slightly more polite.

Cheesypop · 11/12/2015 07:19

Ah yes Fanny but there are no nuns on my train. If there were it may be a different story! Smile in happy news a lovely guy ran on first and essentially kept me a seat this morning (I was last on due to elbowing and such) so that has been a great start. Happy Friday, Fifers Brew Cake

INeedSomeHelp · 11/12/2015 08:01

I don't really know why but this commuting is knackering me. I got the train to work everyday anyway so it really shouldn't make any difference but it just seems like such hard work somehow.
So Cheesy I can't imagine what it's like for you.

myotherusernameisbetter · 11/12/2015 09:53

Traffic in my area significantly quieter today (A9 to M9 join at Keir) I'm wondering if lots of people have decided to take Friday off/ work from home today?

Also, DH Ordered some books from Amazon on Tuesday night (11pm) and they were delivered yesterday tea time from Dunfermline - was mega impressed.

INeedSomeHelp · 11/12/2015 11:10

The car park at the train station was much quieter today too. I expect a lot of people have just decided to take today off. I'm hoping it will just be busy next week then it will really quieten down.

FannyFifer · 11/12/2015 14:56

Don't fancy these guys job.

The Forth Road Bridge is totally closed...
Piffpaffpoff · 11/12/2015 15:57

fanny that photo makes me a bit queasy. Must have been taken yesterday, I can't believe they will be working today, it's wild! (Can see the bridge out my window). Gold star, plus danger money, if they are getting anything done today!!

pictish · 11/12/2015 17:02

Someone just shared THIS on facebook and it made me smile.

amarmai · 11/12/2015 17:07

Not looking great for the ferry, though it's still possible...

INeedSomeHelp · 11/12/2015 19:17

I like Grant Stott's description of the ba-dooomfs!

tilliebob · 12/12/2015 07:41

My DH started a nightshift weekend last night. We are just outside Kirkcaldy, and he'd usually go to Inverkeithing and over the FRB, but had to go via Kincardine. He was about 2 hours getting to work last night and about an hour coming home this morning. Apparently some restrictions have been lifted at weekends re the Kincardine Bridge and also coming along via Cairneyhill?

Either way, I'm relieved he's home without crashing the car through exhaustion and he's in his bed now. Only tonight and tomorrow night to get through now.....Envy

INeedSomeHelp · 12/12/2015 09:09

Tilliebob they've lifted the restrictions for cars going to Kincardine via Crossford and Cairneyhill after 8.00pm on weekdays and all weekend. Previously that was restricted to buses and HGVs with cars being diverted via Carnock and over the Clackmannanshire bridge.

snowypenguin · 20/12/2015 22:38

How is everyone doing? DH lived with a friend last week in Edinburgh. I admit I was exhausted by Friday. DS was very unsettled at night. Lots of tears and missing his dad.

We start again tomorrow for 4 days.

myotherusernameisbetter · 20/12/2015 22:47

The traffic management at the Keir is doing my head in, got the school run tomorrow and I'm not sending them on Tuesday so that will be the last day for a few weeks. I think the traffic should start getting easier as folk finish up for Christmas, maybe your DH could just suss out what it's like on Monday?

snowypenguin · 21/12/2015 07:26

Yes. Hopefully. Lots of fifers will be on holiday from today!!!!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/12/2015 10:44

Just a quick bump to say that the bridge will be reopening from 6am tomorrow (Wednesday) to all vehicles except HGVs....

myotherusernameisbetter · 22/12/2015 10:48

Really? That's brilliant :)

myotherusernameisbetter · 22/12/2015 10:49

Shouldn't affect me too much now anyway.

Groovee · 22/12/2015 11:28

Just saw that it's opening tomorrow! Cuts our driving down on Sunday X

snowypenguin · 22/12/2015 11:29

Thank goodness.

INeedSomeHelp · 22/12/2015 13:06

Thank goodness! It's felt like a lot longer than 18 days.
I always get the train to work anyway but it's just seemed like so much hard work for some reason.

tilliebob · 22/12/2015 17:34

I nearly woke my DH this morning to tell him the glad tidings. As he's on nights just now and had only been in his bed for an hour at the time, I had to keep it to myself until he woke up Grin. He's off to work again now but can come home over the FRB tomorrow morning less chance of driving into a ditch with exhaustion
