"Mind popping that pimple on my bum hun?"

Does anybody else do odd little things for their DHs/DPs?

Here is a list of the things I often do for my DH:

  • I cut the fingernails on his right hand (he is right handed and cannot cut properly with his left hand).
  • I cut his toenails for him.
  • I trim his nose hair, ear fluff, eyebrows and any other stray hairs on his body.
  • I squeeze a recurring blackhead on his bum (he cannot reach this spot).
  • I scrub all the dead skin off his body, once a month (while he is in the bath - he normally showers).
  • he gets a heat rash every now and again, either in his armpits or groin...I wash it down, then put baby bum cream and powder on it.

Is this weird or normal?

I clean my dog's ears with cotton buds

You see, she doesn't have her own hands to do it with

didgeridoo · 21/05/2010 08:38

Weird.

Beachbreak · 21/05/2010 09:07

Wow-I can't believe how this topic has polarised opinion! It seems everyone has v diff boundaries of what is normal for couples and what is weird. All I know is many of my friends and I squeeze, pluck Etc quite happily for our other halves and they do similar for us. (We've not delved into intimate details so can't comment on the rash issue...)

MarineIguana · 21/05/2010 09:17

I love to squeeze DP's blackheads but he would rather I didn't. He sometimes lets me have a go at his back as a special treat I also do help him spot rogue eyebrow hairs (the ones that mysteriously sprout to 2 inches long)

But I wouldn't do all the things in the OP for someone unless they were incapacitated somehow, or under 5. But you know, if you both like it, who cares if it's weird?

mountainmonkey · 21/05/2010 09:20

See I draw the line at anything he can actually do himself but when its a really annoying spot on your back and you can't see it or reach it then why not ask your partner to sort it out?
Why anybody would want someone else digging around in their ears though is beyond me!

TBJP · 21/05/2010 12:13

For me, I do grooming things on him because I get pleasure out of it. He can do everything, of course. But I LIKE plucking his eyebrows and cleaning his ears.

I had an ex once who got sunburnt on his head, he had short hair (about a grade 2) and in the next couple of days when his scalp got flaky, all the flakes stuck on his head and around the hair. I got my tweezers out and picked all the dead skin out. Very pleasurable!

ginnny · 21/05/2010 12:14

NO NO NO NO NO!!! I couldn't squeeze someone's blackheads without puking. In fact just the thought of it is making me a bit queezy.
I do dye DP's hair with Just For Men, but that's more for my benefit than his as I prefer him without the grey . I also attack his eyebrows with my tweezers now and again but really would draw the line at toenail cutting and spot squeezing.

jasmeeen · 21/05/2010 12:32

I squeeze DH's blackheads and pluck his eyebrows when he lets me. I love doing it and like an earlier poster said he lets me do his back as a treat!

TBJP - I can totally appreciate the pleasure to be had from the sunburny flaky skin

diddl · 21/05/2010 12:42

I do find it odd that an adult can´t cut his fingernails on both hands.

Many adults are right handed & can cut the nails on both hands!

OP-what did he do before you did it for him?

Shodan · 21/05/2010 12:43

Spot squeezing- yes, absolutely, although the rotten meanie wants to do them himself 9if he can reach them). But not on Bot Spots. That's yuk.

I will pick scabs but am not allowed (weirdo thinks it's better to 'let them heal').

I most certainly would NOT be attending to aNy kind of rash in the groin area. That is, imo, a trfle odd.

I wax his back for him in summer, but don't trim ear/nose hairs- he has a Purple Ronnie for that.

And the exfoliating is above and beyond, as far as I'm concerned.

But hey, horses for courses. Some people think I'm weird for scab picking. I know they're the odd ones.....

lilacclaire · 21/05/2010 12:57

Ok, spots on back and thats it.

So what exactly does he do for you OP??

BalloonSlayer · 21/05/2010 13:39

I shave DH's back for him.

I would clean his ears out with cotton buds if he asked me to. But he doesn't ask me to.

Mee likey cleaning people's ears out.

TBJP · 21/05/2010 14:04

Oh good - glad it's not just me, BalloonSlayer. I love doing DH's ears! He doesn't ask me - I offered - can't believe he lets me, really.

EricNorthmansmistress · 21/05/2010 14:53

I scrub DH's back - he's used to a different way of washing and intense scrubbing til you're raw is normal, at least once a week. In his country either your mates do your back or you pay an attendant to do it for you, so I do it. He does me sometimes, it's great, you feel super super clean, like a spa treatment I suppose.

I do not cut his toenails or squeeze his spots. That is fucking gross.

GothAnneGeddes · 21/05/2010 16:00

I love squeezing spots but Dh is not a fan.

I shave the back of his neck and that's about it.

GetOrfMoiLand · 21/05/2010 16:06

I scrub DP's back - like Eric says it is a bit like a spa treatment. I also trim his toenails. God knows why. He does mine. We are both freaks obv.

No to blackhead squeezing as he has perfect skin and never has any - but I would squeeze them if he had (would draw the line at ones on his bum though).

He also gets random long eyebrow hairs which I pull out so he doesn't turn into Dennis Healy.

I also used to have a sick enjoyment of de-nitting dd's hair - combing out all the eggs was so satisfying.

IssiNoho · 21/05/2010 16:27

Yuk yuk yuk!

Squeezing manky spots, trimming nasty toenails - what is wrong with you people?

2rebecca · 21/05/2010 17:42

Eeeurgh. Shaving the hair on the back of my bloke's neck is as intimate as I want to get with his personal grooming scheule.

2rebecca · 21/05/2010 17:45

re cutting nails on R hand, don't you lot have nail clippers and emery boards? It really isn't that difficult.

ant3nna · 21/05/2010 17:54

I cut DP's toenails. He claims that he can't reach despite the fact that he seems to be able to put shoes and socks on. I asked him once what he did before I came alone and he told me that he used to get his dad to do it.

Thinking of it, I haven't trimmed them in ages so perhaps his dad is doing it again.

I do squeeze his spots but only because I enjoy doing that. He has to prize me off his face.

Ladyscratt · 21/05/2010 19:33

I cut his hair, he wouldn't let me near any grungy bits unless he was really worried about it.

I think there has to be a healthy respect for our own personal bits there are some things you just don't share
