Hi,

My new partner would like me to have a full bikini wax. I have never done it in my life; Do you do it ? What do you think about it ?

oh yes head is quite respectable and gender neutral.

just for you

HerBeatitude · 10/01/2010 12:05

Oh good, we can now move naturally on to mooncups...

kellze · 10/01/2010 12:12

Cunnilingus- think the sketch was aplayon words thing 'kinda lingers@ being a song. I remember Rowan Atkinson singing it.

I have shaved, waxed and immac'd my lady bits. The only way it didn't hurt/ itch like hell after the initial 'treatment' was waxing. It also felt and looked nice.

NEVER immac the under bits. Tried it recently and was painful. I have done it before but I am now 28 weeks pregnant and didn't realise it would hurt so much.

nancydrewrocks · 10/01/2010 12:19

PP do you carry a small jug around in your handbag - all seems a lot of stress when you could just whip it all off .

NDR- the answer is yes, a bottle if need be.
The other answer is it is not difficult- you just lean back on the loo seat.

Mamazon · 10/01/2010 12:22

can i just say im a bit narked that it is assumed that as a female any effort i make to feel better about myself must some how be because of some misogynist expectancy.

surely it is a bit anti feminist to assume that i am unable to make such a decision myself and that i am so weak and feable of mind that i must have had some male influence.

AnnieBeansMum · 10/01/2010 12:27

I agree with Mamazon. I have watched, but stayed away from, this thread since my initial post. I cannot believe how it has degenerated. I am a bush woman and mamazon is naked - does it really bloody matter? Not everything in this world is influenced by men!!

Toomanyquestions · 10/01/2010 12:46

Gosh,

I never thought I would get so many responses, thanks to all of you.

He has asked me to do it not to increase his fantasies but he finds that it is much more easier for cunis ( I won't mention the "C" word as advised), that's all really. Yes it has to do with a "mouthfull of bush" MissWooWoo.
He has not pressured but I can tell he would appreciate. I am curious and could have it done, why not after all. The only thing stopping me is the pain. I have shaved bikini lines in the past and it was disastrous (spots, terribly hitchy when it grew back) so I think my only option is waxing. I have booked an appoitment at a beautician but I am scared shit about the pain, other than that I don't think I will look like a little girl.

If it really swells, how long in advance of seing him should I get it done ?

Mamzon,

You are spot on, he has just asked, and I am tempted to do it, for him and for myself. If I did not want to do it, I simply would not and he would just have to put up with it! I don't think he is a mysoginist but it is normal for partners to discuss preferences, no?

I learnt from this thread, I had no idea it could increase sensations during intercourse, cool!

It really isn't that painful. don't go when you have or are just about to get your period. Have a couple of paracetemol beforehand and it's fine, it's more of an 'ouch touched a hot radiator' sort of pain than sheer agony.

brimfull · 10/01/2010 13:00

rofl @ mamazon's lady patio

kingbeat23 · 10/01/2010 13:02

Go to someone that recommends you if you fancy it then. I have in the past gone to new places and they have either ripped the shit out of me and taken bits of skin with them, or created ingrown hairs from inexperience and crap waxing...so much so, that i now have a mental block and cant bring myself to wax at all now for fear of a crap waxer.

If its easy access he wants how about trimming it?? Have got one of those bikini razors with trimmer on the other side of it. Only problem is that it sounds like a vibe and my walls are VERY thin, but have found the regrowth is not too bad or itchy.

If youve never waxed before, then trim anyway otherwise it'll hurt like buggery and i would go for a landing strip as i found that a full wax felt like fire over my clit, but that's just my opinion...dunno

Nancy66 · 10/01/2010 13:05

I don't think you should trim beforehand - longer hair is easier to wax.

nancydrewrocks · 10/01/2010 13:12

If it is longer than 2cm the beautician will trim you first.

The lady that does mine wears those little spectacles that pearch on the end of her nose for this partiular job and I do find that slightly unnerving as she snips away with her nail scissors!

I don't recommend sex the same day - can still be a bit tender and please don't make the mistake I always seem to of booking a riding lesson the same day - sitting trot gets quite uncomfortable!

noddyholder · 10/01/2010 13:54

I am a 70s bush lady sounds quite groovy Thanks mamazon!

maristella · 10/01/2010 14:49

i wax or shave the sides and use a bikini trimmer over the rest - much less painful!!
i'm happier without a bouffant downstairs

BUnderTheBonnet · 10/01/2010 15:04

I worked my way up (or down???) to a full bikini wax. I had a bit waxed off each side, working about a centimetre closer to the middle each time I went. If you just have the edges done, you can leave your knickers on (until you get to know your beatician better!). Also, if they're useless, less harm done. Ie, you can go for a test run! Boyf would have to wait a bit for full baldy gloriousness though
I had mine done yesterday, and it looks fine today, although last night it was still a little bit pink. BTW once it's done, you have to exfoliate and moistuise down there to avoid ingrowing hairs - I'm really prone to them.

Kiwinyc · 10/01/2010 15:12

I wouldn't be adverse to it if I was asked but i keep myself trimmed neatly and shaved anyway. I would always keep a neatly trimmed landing strip of some sort.

I am also happier when tidy downstairs, and would be much more self conscious to have a full au natural, overgrown and unkempt lady garden. i think lots of hair holds odour and I certainly don't have the possibility to carry a 'jug of warm water' about my person (Funnily enough my workplace loos don't offer this perk either) to do additional washing during Japanese Flag week.

And long hairs can get stuck in their teeth... I also prefer my gentlemen friends to keep themselves somewhat trimmed also, although i don't require them to have a full back, sack and crack wax. But if they're willing, I wouldn't say no either.

This does lead me to wonder however, if its a trend the ahem, younger generation, have? -this expectation of deforestation - possibly from exposure to much mjore easily accessible porn on the internet and the like?

muggglewump · 10/01/2010 15:18

Take a couple of paracetamol beforehand for the pain if you are worried.
I epilate mine and it was a bit nippy at first. Not so much now although hardly pleasant.
I prefer the look and feel whether I'm having sex or not, it is more sensitive.
I also have my clit pierced to increase sensitivity further.
Highly recommended

wubblybubbly · 10/01/2010 15:30

Prefer to just shave the straggly side bits and get the hubby to give it an all over quick trim with the clippers!

Have had waxes before, but I just cant stand the embarrasment of having some stranger poking around down there for 15 minutes, plus it absolutely knacks, nearly fainted the first time and I got loads of ingrown hairs. I'd rather have a smear anyday.

Plus, hubby quite enjoys doing the trim and with this being the credit crunch and all.....

purplepeony · 10/01/2010 15:44

KIWI- you don't need to carry a jug of water with you. I am being serious here- some people for all kinds of other medical reasons keep their bits fresh throughout the day by carrying a bottle of water, or an empty bottle which they fill in the loos from the wash basin taps.

AuntieMaggie · 10/01/2010 15:47

I have had it all off in the past but wouldn't now - I trim quite a bit of it but still leave some there - I take enough off to mak it more sensitive but leave enough because I want to look like a woman but not a little girl!

FabioTwitterCat · 10/01/2010 18:05

I am covered from head to tail in fur and I can lick my own bum.

Beat that, waxers!

47doublechins · 10/01/2010 19:56

I used to have the standard bikini; but as I reached the menopause, I found "rogue" hairs...
The odd tripid hair that escaped from my pants and attempted to conjoin with the weird leg hair.
Not just confined to the pant area either...on my chin, the Dennis Healey eyebrow etc. etc.

I had my first full wax as a result of these hairs.
Wow. Sex is so much better (for me). When asked husband he said "Well you wouldn't eat a hairy sandwich would you ?".(But he did; before).

I don't look or emulate a child with my shaven haven. I am a fully formed sexual 48 yr old (now) Woman. That's what I bring to the table/bed.

I continue to do it for me.

As a Feminist I agree I am conforming to stereotype in removing body hair(somewhat).

But men do it every day with their facial hair. (For Women I believe).

I don't always do it.

I let it grow back in Winter, particularly this Winter, in the hope it will join up with my leg hairs and knit itself into thermal underwear.
