DH has just admitted that he isn't happy, hasn't been for a long time and doesn't know if he wants to stay with me

{{{Hugs}}} talking thing sounds very good, you're on the right road there. You know where I am if you want to waffle x

If he is/might be depressed he should go and talk to his GP (who is hopefully a good one). You seem to be very self-aware and on top of your depression but one of the features of depression (for some people at least) is the feeling that nothing will help, which is of course massively unhelpful.

I just keep looking at him thinking "How can you not love me?"

(not in a I can't understand anyone not loving me way, in a, we've just always been us way).

I am wary of telling him I love him in case he thinks I'm making a point, but it is something I have always just said...

My mate (knew nothing of all this) sent me an email earlier asking marriage advice and if we had ever thought about splitting up. Happy New Year one and all it seems!
