What does your DH / DP do that shows you he loves you?

...other than want to get your knickers off - that's just lust y'know, although it's great when you've got it.

I was thinking about this the other day when I met a friend's new bloke. He couldn't take his eyes off her. DP has no problem taking his eyes off me, but he does still tell me I'm beautiful without being asked, so i think that counts!

corny, but he makes me laugh

wish he would bloody make me coffee, though

puts DS to bed every night

gets up at night when DS wakes and brings him to our bed

dresses DS most mornings

ButIForgetMyself · 12/11/2008 20:35

Worked away all last week, turned up at home shattered on Friday night, heavily pregnant, no make-up, bags under eyes etc.

"You look lovely", he said when I walked in the door. "All lovely and dark and pregnant".

Then on Sunday night, while I was wandering round in my dressing gown, told me I looked stunning, my hair looked lovely, and he loved me.

Which really means something, cos I feel like a frumpy old knackered beached whale at the moment.

FrannyandZooey · 12/11/2008 20:36

puts up with me and gives me nice babies

Bink · 12/11/2008 20:37

laughs at my jokes (particularly the ones that no-one else in the world gets)

littlerach · 12/11/2008 20:41

Tells me frequently.

Watches crap on TV with me.(instead of football, sometimes!)

Rubs my feet/back.

When i go out in the winter and am back after he's gone ot bed, he puts a hot water bottle in for me.

Scrapes the car in the frost.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 12/11/2008 20:44

DH will tell me he loves me, but he also:
will update my mp3 player with new music I mention I like
Keeps my car topped up with oil etc
Lets me lie in late every sat
encourages me to go out see friends and have hobbies (card making being the new one)
Will snuggle on the sofa with me and let me watch crap tv such as X factor

PeaMcLean · 12/11/2008 20:46

Errmmm......

MrsMattie · 12/11/2008 20:47

Massages me on an almost daily basis
Tells me I look lovely (when i do and when don't)
makes me laugh when I'm feeling down
Does loads of boring household chores to please me
Buys me yummy biccies and cakes that he knows I love
Encourages me to have fun, see friends, let my hair down
Surprises me with romantic gestures on special occasions
Does his fair share of parenting and usually notices when I am tired and he needs to take over.
Records TV programmes/films he knows I will like

Oh, he is wonderful

clam · 12/11/2008 20:48

Arrives home each evening, calls to me, "Hiya, can I get you anything? Wine? Tea?" Then, after he's had a few minutes' chat, it'll be "OK, what would you like for dinner?"
He's away this week on business, and it's killing me. But DS is looking after me on the cups of tea front!
Flowers every week, when he does the big food shop, and a fruit smoothie every morning, if he gets up before me. Breakfast in bed at weekends, even if it's my turn.

PeaMcLean · 12/11/2008 20:48

Hold on, errmmmm....

cwtchy · 12/11/2008 20:50

After DD was born my mother brought me and DH a vat of stew so we didn't have to cook. DH took it into the kitchen whilst I was feeding DD and warmed a bowl up for me, and it was lovely.

It was only later when I went out to the kitchen, and I saw a big pile of peas on the side, that I realised the stew had peas in (which I hate) and he had stood in the kitchen and picked every sodding one out of my bowl.

I wouldn't have even bothered to do that for myself!

PeaMcLean · 12/11/2008 20:51

Bear with me... I know this one...

BitOfFun · 12/11/2008 20:55

Oh cwtchy, that is truly lovely!

Goober · 12/11/2008 20:58

I will be busy doing something, turn around and he is just....gazing at me.
That'll do.

BitOfFun · 12/11/2008 20:59

My gorgeous DP paints me "to show the world" how beautiful I am (I am a bit about this at times, but it's nice he thinks so!), and always lights my ciggies first . Not everyone's idea of romance, I know, but, hey!

cyanarasamba · 12/11/2008 21:09

I get a cup of tea in bed every morning - priceless.

Sometimes he will pluck the hairs I can't reach under my chin....

Pinkchampagne · 12/11/2008 21:21

He bought me a card at the weekend, just to tell me he loved me.

He has offered to take me boring food shopping at the weekend if I don't get round to doing it online.

He texts me a snog (which is lots of kisses!) every night before I go to bed & he often tells me he loves me moon and back.

There are loads of ways he shows me he loves me. I feel very lucky to have found him.

sweetgrapes · 12/11/2008 21:22

Right with you there Pea.

I know that I know this one...

PeaMcLean · 12/11/2008 21:23

Nope Can't answer this one. Does nothing. Nowt. Not a thing.

Somehow just know he does. Thankfully.

Would be nice if he did do more though.

PeaMcLean · 12/11/2008 21:24

Grapes

elsiepiddock · 12/11/2008 21:30

If my dh goes to bed before me, he lies on my side so it's nice and warm when I get in!

Weeteeny · 12/11/2008 21:38

random cups of tea, text messages at work to say i love you with a kiss. loves our boys like mad. Wants me even when I look like shit.
Like most men he can also be an arse at times, but he usually realise very quickly and tries to redeem himself by making me laugh or smile. Come to think of it that is actually quite annoying....

snigger · 12/11/2008 21:46

He watches tv in our room with subtitles on.

He starts my car before I go to work in the winter so it's cozy.

stayinbed · 12/11/2008 21:48
  1. making all his phonecalls and answering all his phonecalls on speakerphone
  1. saying great things about me to anyone/everyone especially when i am not there
  1. calling me from his night out to tell me he'd rather be home with me and then coming home soon after
princessmel · 12/11/2008 21:48

Makes me tea every morning,
Gets up with the dc's and lets me lie in.
Does tons of stuff round the house.
Tells me lots.
Writes nice notes for me on the kitchen whiteboard.....

Loads of stuff
