Would you find this strange?!

Putting things in very short and sweet as my head is running wild!
Recently split from partner of roughly 8years (nearly 3 years living together)
Hes currently on my sofa until he finds somewhere to move into
I saw tonight thay he had a recently used app on his phone which was a banking app that he has never mentioned in the whole time we have been together, has only had one bank card throughout this period of time also.
So why would he he have a banking app that hes never said anything or even had a card for this bank?

Are you married? I only ask because it’s not really relevant if you’re not married….

A15R · Yesterday 23:34

@Namechangewegovyjune26no we're not married

Maybe he hasn't been very honest about his finances?

But it's really hard to know without knowing what your financial agreement was when you were a couple??

Imdonehere · Yesterday 23:36

Debt. Credit card. Mortgage application? Who knows. It's not really relevant if you have split up and you're not married.

Just check your own credit report to make sure you're not implicated in anything, and set a deadline to get him out of your home.

A15R · Yesterday 23:37

@AutumnLoverButNotYet he always used to say theres no need for me to know, we used to split bills but it's always been one account thats I've always known and its just baffled me when I saw it

@Imdoneherehe already has a mortgage with his ex, its more of a shock than anything

Is it any of your business if he has another bank account? Why are you checking his phone? If you've split up, I don't understand why you would be doing this!

Notquitethetruth · Today 08:50

Depends on how you discussed finances. There should also be no reason why he would have hidden it. Maybe the secrecy and lack of transparency is part of why you have split and yet another piece of the jigsaw.

f1mercedesfan · Today 08:54

If its Lloyd's app but his card is Halifax that is because Lloyd's own Halifax and are in the process of transferring Halifax customers to the Lloyd's app

OldrNWisr · Today 09:00

Maybe he has money you don’t know about? If you’re not married and are splitting up anyway, it’s not really any of your business anymore. I’d be annoyed at it being kept from me too, but there’s not much you can do about it.

somanychristmaslights · Today 09:03

I changed my credit card to a new provider, but I didn’t tell DH about it. Why would I? It’s nothing to do with him.
this is nothing to do with you either.

MelonSorbet · Today 09:22

So why would he he have a banking app that hes never said anything or even had a card for this bank?

I'm going to take a wild guess that he has an account or card with this bank that you don't know about. Maybe it's his running away money, which as it turns out he's sensible to have.

A15R · Today 09:43

First of all I didnt check his phone, he was showing me something and when he closed it down it was there. One.. i feel like he has had this bank for however long and never told me about it which makes me feel like he has money that I dont know of and hes just using my sofa before I get sick of it
Two.. if it's a new account yes it's none of my business which I know im not bothered about that
Im more bothered about number one

Cooshawn · Today 09:52

Its absolutely none of your business, and nor was it when you were a couple.

I don't provide my husband with a list of the various places I have accounts because he isn't my keeper and I don't need to share that level of information with him. I also don't know who he holds accounts with beyond his day to day bank. Either of us would openly tell the other if asked.

zeebra · Today 09:56

'Would you find it strange?' I find it more strange that you are bothered by an exes, non married partners bank details?

somanychristmaslights · Today 09:57

Well give him a deadline for moving out.
just ask him about the app if it bothers you so much. My DH still has a baby app on his phone which shows growth progress etc. Our DS is now 8 😂. DH never deleted apps, so this one could be an old one. Or it could be one with no money in it! Either way either ask him or stop thinking about it.

bigboykitty · Today 10:00

If I was helping someone out because they didn't have any other options, I too would be very unimpressed to find out they actually did have options after all. If he's hidden this throughout your relationship, I wouldn't hesitate to tell him to go explore his other options. You sound really shocked OP. Also he still has a mortgage with his ex, but you've been together 8 years?? Could the account be the mortgage account?

FliesFliesEverywhere · Today 10:37

Maybe set a timetable for him moving out if you are bothered by him.
Perhaps he got a new account with better conditions. I've been thinking about doing the same, and not discussed it with my partner as we don't share finances.

He's now your ex so you don't need to be concerned. Just ask him to leave.

A15R · Today 10:44

Im speaking to him after work about a time frame that he needs to leave by, that's the only thing that's bothering me the fact if he has had an account with money in then why stay

OP posts:
A15R · Today 10:45

@bigboykittyim sure in the past hes mentioned the mortgage coming out of the account I know of, also he kept paying the mortgage because he wanted the kids to stay where they are

OP posts:
FliesFliesEverywhere · Today 10:47

So he's saying he's broke but now you think/know he has money in his account?
People's idea of what "broke" means differs. He might like to have a buffer in his account to cover forgotten bills.

Maisymouse2 · Today 11:02

Does he have no where else to go? so he can have whatever apps and life he has to himself..you are over so leave him alone.

A15R · Today 11:04

@FliesFliesEverywhereyes, I feel like hes just using me to top his money up which yes is understandable but I also know he got some inheritance so I know he has plenty to cover costs

OP posts:
PersephoneParlormaid · Today 11:04

I have bank accounts and ISA’s that my DH doesn’t know about, he doesn’t own me.
