Dh is better at sorting presents, I tend to start the planning as DH wouldn't think about that till the day before, and we like to go away for a few days to celebrate, but then we'll decide on something together.

GoodkneeBadKnee · 23/08/2026 22:29

We do celebrate our anniversary. We don't do presents, but I make sure to tell DH I want us to do something. Then leave it to him to arrange something.

TheChosenTwo · 23/08/2026 22:31

We don’t really, we did with our 20th, I mentioned earlier in the year that we were approaching 20 years and dh surprised me by booking a holiday.
Generally though it either gets forgotten or he will cook us a more special meal than usual. We don’t tend to go out to celebrate it as it’s in December and it’s busy enough!

Tablo · 23/08/2026 22:33

We don’t celebrate as such but we usually book one of our weeks leave around that time so we plan where to go together. Never done cards or presents.

poachy · 23/08/2026 22:33

We don’t really celebrate, may say vaguely that some plan or trip we have is ‘for our anniversary’ if it’s in the weeks surrounding, but that’s about it. I’m always surprised when DH family texts us happy anniversary, we don’t really do that in my family.

Pedant61 · 23/08/2026 22:36

It's not a thing really, just both buy a card. We did agree on a fabulous holiday for our silver wedding, but I can't remember who suggested it.
And it's "anniversaries"!

Caramalised · 23/08/2026 22:38

We don't. Can't even remember the date we married tbh. Sometime in August I believe. 20+ years ago. Love each other madly still.

Theheatishot · 23/08/2026 22:43

We are often on holiday, so will say a meal out on the day as part of the holiday is for anniversary.
We were home this year for our 5th. DH booked the restaurant in the hotel we were in for our wedding night.

FusionChefGeoff · 23/08/2026 22:43

Ha ha - it was our 16th recently and we completely forgot. We’re queuing to check in for our return flight home from holiday and DH suddenly said ‘Oh, it’s our anniversary today!’ so we had a quick kiss and a cuddle and that was it.

So, the answer is neither of us!

Denim4ever · 23/08/2026 22:57

We exchange cards and small gifts unless it's a very big anniversary. We buy our own cards and gifts. DH does flowers, I will usually buy a book or a bottle. We go out for the anniv if it's close to the weekend or for my birthday if the birthday is closer as there's only 6 days different. We organise that together. For landmark anniversaries we buy different gifts. I would be up for s party, but it's not DHs style.

BillieWiper · 23/08/2026 22:58

Nothing to organize really. Just each buy a card and decide amongst ourselves where to go for dinner.

beaglescurleduplikebagels · 23/08/2026 23:00

Neither of us. We tend to remember about midway through the afternoon and decide to order a chippy for tea.

glassof · 24/08/2026 05:59

He tends to book a meal or trip away, he always buys flowers too, I have bought something that fits with the traditional gifts each year that we hang up (1st year paper etc) it takes some planning, I don't just buy from etsy or amazon.
It works for us, we're both quite laid back but like to make a fuss for significant occasions

Recklessismymiddlename · 24/08/2026 06:38

We don’t do cards or gifts. May go get a takeaway or go out for a meal if we are both around & have remembered. Go away for a big anniversary. Been married nearly 30 years.

Dh is my carer. He shows me every day what he thinks of me, in the way he looks after me, I don’t need the other stuff to know what I mean to him.

whippersnapper55 · 24/08/2026 08:43

Neither of us really - we get each other a card and usually go out for lunch or dinner. We've been married 36 years very happily. We just don't make a big deal about anniversaries!

Glitterbiscuits · 24/08/2026 08:48

No one. We are very very happy but we try not to be too consumerist and buy things we don’t need.

Softcream · 24/08/2026 08:49

We buy each other a card. Sometimes we go out for dinner, not always. If we do it would probably be me to organise it.

Clydebuilt · 24/08/2026 08:50

We both do! Usually a weekend away, more recently in the UK. We used to always go abroad and have a city break, but due to some ill health in recent years, we tend to stay a little closer to home.

cinquanta · 24/08/2026 08:52

We wish each other happy anniversary. It doesn’t take much organising.

Whoops75 · 24/08/2026 08:53

We chat about it, usually a meal as close to the date as we can.

Shoxfordian · 24/08/2026 09:09

We talk about what we want to do together- next year we're going to Istanbul for a weekend, I'll usually find the hotel, he pays- it works

bocketyaulbag · 24/08/2026 09:15

We don't really do much. Might open a nice bottle of wine. Don't do presents. For our 25th we did choose a nice ring for me as I had been wanting one and it seemed like a nice excuse.

PinkKimonos · 24/08/2026 09:15

We never celebrate it. I’m not even sure when it is. Contrary to Mn opinion, though, we’re very happily married.

Musicmummy63 · 24/08/2026 09:16

We have always celebrated ours. When the kids were small, we would do a card and present. Now they are independent, we go abroad for a holiday. We sort it together, it's our 40th next year so planning on a big trip this time. He's never forgotten!

backformoreofthesame · 24/08/2026 09:28

Neither of us is bothered by the specific date so neither of us organise anything - if you have an asymmetrical need to celebrate I would expect the keen person to do it all
